She said that she loved me. No girl had ever told me that she had loved me before, not without sex that is. I don’t know why I was reluctant to say it back, but I was. I wanted to say it back. Truly, I did. The thought of true and honest love scares the hell out of me to tell you the truth. I’ve never had it before and definitely wasn’t looking for it.

But it found me.

And I was thankful that it had. It was the only thing that kept me from losing it completely. It was a miraculous defeat in its own that Draco Malfoy had found love, honest to goodness love.

And I had no plans of giving it up.

I was so happy, in fact, that I wanted my best mate, Blaise, to experience what I was experiencing. He and Bella were perfect for each other, or that’s what it seemed like to me. So, I offered to get Bella a date. The double date was just so I could watch the goings on between the two of them. I was pretty sure that the girl that he was running off to see was Bella; he just wouldn’t tell me who it was to prove my suspicions. All he would tell me that she was mysterious, and that’s what he loved about her. She wasn’t some predictable clone most girls seemed to be. And to me, that was Bella.

“Hey, Blaise,” I said the first time I saw him since the conversation with Hanna and Bella, “Do you have a date for the Hogsmeade trip?”

He smiled, truly smiled. “Not yet, but I was thinking of asking someone.”

“Well, drop her. I have a girl lined up for you. She’s pretty much perfect for you, man. Trust me.”

He shook his head. “I’ll get my own date. The last time you set me up it turned into a God awful mess.”

I laughed. “It did, but this time will be different. I promise. So, how about it?”

He rolled his eyes. “Draco.”

“Come on, man. It’s just one date. Then you can ask what’s-her-face to the next one, which we know will be the next month. Please?”

I know I sounded like I was begging, but I wasn’t. That is one thing, along with apologizing, that Draco Malfoy never does. He’s never wrong, and he’s never weak. I can get what I want, when I want. I know that, and obviously Blaise knows that as well.

“Alright, but it better not be like last time,” he sighed, “You’re such a bitch, Draco.”

“Oh, fuck you.”

He laughed. “You only wish you could.”

I rolled my eyes. “Suck it.”

“I’d love to, but I wouldn’t want to take Hanna’s job away,” he laughed, “And speaking of employees, here she is.”

One look at Hanna, and I forgot to be angry with Blaise. Her smile melted my angry and I was putty in her hands. She kissed me hello and smiled another, different one to Blaise, who was still smirking at his own joke. He waved before turning and leaving. I, for one, was happy that he chose to leave. I took that liberty and kissed my beautiful girlfriend. I loved her so, even though I possibly couldn’t say it yet.

“So, does Bella have a date for Hogsmeade yet?” she asked as we started walking to the courtyard.

I nodded. “It didn’t take long for him to crumble, not that I told him who it was. It’ll be a true blind date. Gosh, I’m so glad that we’ll be there to see what happens.”

“I’m still hoping that they are seeing each other already. This past month has been quite a secret filled one when it comes to our best mates. I’d like for that to be over,” she smiled when we sat on the grasses side-by-side.

I smirk and lean into her. “Can we move on to other things? All this talk about other people is wearing me out.”

She giggled and kissed me full on the mouth. I loved kissing Hanna, her soft lips moving perfectly with my slightly chapped ones; a sure sign that I’m beginning to get dehydrated according to Hanna. She doesn’t mind it though. Kissing is one of her favorite activities, I assume. I know for sure that it’s one of my favorite past times.

She pulled away from me, her hand to her lips. “Draco, if we keep up the snogging this much, my lips will become just as dry as yours are.”

I smirked at her somewhat swollen lips. “That’s perfectly alright with me, love.”

“Of course it is, you’re not the one with the chafed lips! Please drink something Draco, you’re parched for heaven’s sake!” she said, kissing my cheek.

I chuckled under my breath. “I lo-“

I had almost said it. It had almost slipped out, but I realized what was going to come out of my mouth and stopped myself. With a sigh, I let my head fall against her shoulder. Her hands went straight for my hair, and she kissed the top of my hair.

“It’s okay,” she whispered, “I’m a patient person. You can say it when you’re ready, but I already know what your heart says. It beats in time with mine, our connection is flawless. We’re meant to be, Draco. We’re meant to be.”

I lifted my head to look into her eyes, her beautiful eyes. A genuine smile crept onto my face. Here was the perfect girl, and I was lucky enough to be with her. She deserved to be told that she was loved, but I just couldn’t do it. Not yet. So, instead, I kissed her passionately to show her just what I couldn’t tell her.

“I love you, Draco,” she said, kissing my cheek before skipping off to her next class.

I watched her leave before deciding to leave as well. A guy in Gryffindor robes stepped in sync with me as I walked down the hall. He glanced at me. I glanced at him. I stopped walking before turning to face him, to ask him what he wanted. He punched me straight across the face, clean left hook.

What the fuck was his problem?
