“What’s what?” I asked, automatically tensing up.
She pulled my left arm to her and flipped my wrist out to show my Deathmark. I sighed. I didn’t want it to be like this. I knew that she would be furious with me. I knew what was coming then. The girl I loved was going to rip my heart out with her bare hands. Her sharp nails were going to cut open my chest and pull out my beating heart to show to the world before squeezing it to cause my death. She wasn’t going to do it without a fight first.
“You know what it is,” I swallowed hard as she nodded. “Now you know what I am.”
She nodded but was quiet. Her pleading eyes made me continue with a sigh.
“Look, Bells,” I started and looked into her eyes. “We shouldn’t have any secrets between us, so I’ll tell you. I love you so much, Bells. I just hope this doesn’t change your mind about me.” I paused. Unwanted tears were penetrating my eyes. I needed to look strong in front of her. No, I needed to be strong.
She was busy shaking her head at me. “Blaise, honey, I could never change my mind about you. So, you’re a deatheater. That has nothing to do with who you are on the inside. The person in here,” she said, tapping my chest as she sat up to look at me properly. “That is who I’m in love with. I’m not in love with you because you have a smoking body.” Her beautiful lips curled into a smirk. “Although, that is a great perk that comes along with it.”
I smiled down at her. “I love you. You have no idea how much that means to me, especially what I have to tell you next. You might not like me so much after this.” I sighed. She put her hand on my arm to tell me that it was alright. “We’ve been given missions to-“
“Hold on. We?” she asked, narrowing her beautiful brown eyes at me.
I nodded. “Draco and me. We’re both deatheaters. We’ve both been given missions this year. His isn’t as big as mine since mine is just to assist him whenever he asks for help. I, for one, could never go through with what he’s got to do. Draco’s family is in so much shit with the Dark Lord that the kid has to go to great lengths to pull them out when it’s his damn father’s fault. Can you believe that?”
“You mean when Lucious got arrested last year for breaking into the Ministry?” she asked.
“Yes, that’s exactly what it is. Lucious had gotten neck deep into it with our Lord. It’s not right. It’s just plain cruel because he knows that Draco cannot go through with it. What sane teenager could go through with it?”
“And what exactly is it that he must do?” she raised her eyebrows up at me, but I just looked away. I had already said way too much. I could be in trouble just for saying that much. “You can’t tell me, can you? It’s okay. I appreciate you being this honest with me. I just can’t believe that you would think that my mind would change about you. How could you have thought that?”
I shrugged. “I dunno. You just seem too good to be true.”
She smiled at me. “Well, I have something to tell you that might make you change your mind about me. It’s not as bad as yours, but I still think that it will make a pretty significant impact. You know what I mean?”
“How could I possibly know what you mean? What could be worse than what I just told you?”
I was a little frightened now that she had said that, but what could it have been? I couldn’t think of anything that could be as powerful as telling someone that you follow the most evil wizard known to wizardkind. Could it?
“I’m muggleborn.”
I was not expecting those two words to pop out of her mouth. She was right, it was a powerful impact. I had never been with a mud- wait. How could I call the person that I love such a dirty name? But she was one…right? Technically, yes. She was a mud - muggleborn - , right? So that had to mean something. My parents are the most prejudiced wizards ever known. Besides the Malfoys and the Dark Lord that is.
I had waited too long to tell her this though because she had got up off the bed and was beginning to pull her shirt back on. I got up and put my arms around her, pinning her own arms to her side.
“Look, Blaise. I could tell by the look on your face that you can’t accept me for what I am. I thought that maybe you could because I accepted you, but…” she trailed off as sobbing took over her mouth.
“Bells,” I whispered into her hair. “I love you. Just because you’re a mud – muggleborn – doesn’t change the fact that I love you. I paused because it was a shock, but I was also thinking about my parents and my master. I’ve always lived my life one way, but loving you has changed it. I don’t give a damn who –or what- you are, Bella. It’s you I love. You have a piece of my soul that I don’t want back.”
She slowly turned back to me. “Are you telling me that I’m your soul mate?” she wimpered, tears still pouring from her eyes. It was the first time that I had seen her cry. It shocked me a little. She was always so tough. I guess she just has a rough exterior, one that I love her for. I kissed her eyes, each one, and licked the tears from her cheeks.
I smiled as I pulled away from her. “Hmm…salty,” I said, and that was all it took for her lips to clamp onto mine.
“I love you,” she said, only pulling away enough to tell me that.
“I love you too. Now,” I looked down at my watch and grabbed my shirt from the floor. “We’re going to be late for class, so fix yourself up. Even though you’re just as beautiful as ever.”
She gasped and shook her head. “I’m ugly when I cry,” she said, pulling at her eyes in my mirror.
“You’re beautiful no matter what,” I said, kissing her cheek.
“Oh, hey,” she said, jerking her head my way from across the room. I had moved to grab my bag from the foot of the bed along with hers. “Since we’re being totally honest here, is there any chance that Draco’s cheating on Hanna?”
I dropped our bags onto the floor with a laugh. “Are you serious?”
She nodded. “I’m totally serious. The other day I saw him with two girls. He had his arms around each of them. They both looked really scared and much younger than him. Blaise, you know what’s going on, don’t you?”
“Well, I can tell you that he would never cheat on Hanna. Never in a million years. He might be known to sleep with a lot of girls, but he hasn’t touched another girl since he laid eyes on Hanna. Well,” I said, stroking my chin, remembering something. “He was still with Pansy when they first met, so yeah that was a total lie. How about ever since he and Hanna got together. He hasn’t even looked at another girl.”
“And what about those girls?” she put her hand on her hip which made me smirk.
I chuckled. “It’s not what you think. Crabbe and Goyle are helping Draco with his mission as well. He’s been so kind not to ask me for any help.”
“Are you telling me that those girl were those freaks-“
“after taking polyjuice potion? Yes,” I smiled at her and kissed the top of her head. “You’re so cute, worrying about your best mate.”
She rolled her eyes. “You would do it for Draco, don’t deny it.”
“You’re right.”
“Now,” she said. “Let’s head to class. Much as I’d like to stay…”
I raised my eyebrows at her. “Are you saying that you want to now? I’d gladly skip my next class.” And I meant it too.
She giggled. “Perhaps tomorrow.”
“You’re such a fucking tease, you know that right?” I also meant this as well.
She put her hands on the back of my neck and brushed her lips against mine ever so slightly. I had cold chills up and down my spine, perking up something down in my trousers as well. I put my arms around her waist and pulled her against my body.
“I know,” she whispered, slapping the back of my head. “Let’s go.”
She pulled me by the hand, much against my pleas of needing to run to the loo. Something in my pants had perked up a little too much, and she knew it too. Her triumphant smirk showed all to plainly as we walked up the hall way.
