He didn’t think that purebloods could be with muggleborns. Dirty blood, he had said. This was not fair. I was finally completely happy with a guy, and he has to go say something like that. I shouldn’t have asked the question. I should’ve just left the topic alone.
“Why do you seem so sad?” Bella asked as she sat down beside me on the bed.
I turned over to look at her. “Why aren’t you?”
She shrugged. “He’s a cheater. No use shedding anymore tears on him.”
“I guess you’re right, but you just found out today.”
“Oh, well,” she shrugged again, “Now, tell me. Did Draco do something that he needs his ass beat for?”
I shook her head. “He doesn’t think that muggleborns should date purebloods…”
“So you told him?”
“No, I didn’t. He wouldn’t let me,” I sighed, “I think he suspects, but doesn’t want to believe it. I don’t think I’m going to say anything unless he asks. I so want to be with him.”
“That’s it, Han. Make him fall in love with you, and then he won’t care about blood lines. He’ll only care about you. From what you tell me about him, he seems to want this just as much as you do. I just need to meet him now. Then I’ll give you my blessing.”
I smiled at her. “I’ll see what I can do, Bell.”
“Well, night. I’ll see you in the morning,” she said, hugging me tightly before running over to her bed and switching the light off.
The next morning, it was off to potions for me and off to Care of Magical Creatures for Bella. Draco was waiting for me outside the classroom. Phew, maybe he didn’t suspect a thing from the night before. That takes a load off. I waved at him as I drew nearer. He put his arm around me before leading me into the classroom. Everyone looked at us, especially Pansy and Millicent Bullstrode. My cheeks turned red when he released me at my seat. Pansy was still glaring at me. Tutoring was not going to be fun the next morning, I could tell.
“Sorry I’m late,” Ron said when he took his seat beside me, “Did I miss anything?”
I glanced over at Draco who was beaming at me. “No, you didn’t miss a thing.”
“That’s good,” he said as we started the potion once more, “So,” he said after a few moments of silence, “Do you have free time after this class?”
I was a little caught off guard. “Yes.”
“Do you want to hang? Maybe we could do homework together?” he suggested.
The truth was that I wanted to be alone during my free time that day. I didn’t want him to be there. Plus, I could tell that he liked me, and I didn’t want to encourage him. I just needed to think of a lie that wouldn’t get me in too much trouble.
“I can’t. I promised Bella that I would help her for her homework during free time today.”
I knew Bella would back me up if this ever got out, which I doubted that it would.
“Oh, okay then. Perhaps another time then…”
I nodded. “Another time.”
After class, he didn’t try to change my mind. I hightailed it out of the classroom and went straight for my dorm, where I traded my school books for my muggle book that my mum had bought me for my birthday. It was one that I read over and over again: Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. It was one of my favorites. I went out to the courtyard and looked up at the sky. It was rather grey. Perhaps it was going to rain?
I started reading and got disinterested in it real quick. I felt like dancing. My mum had me in ballet and ball room dancing classes when I was in grade school, before I knew I was a witch. I missed the dancing somewhat. So, I stood anddid a couple of pirouettes. It was really refreshing to be doing some dance moves, but then I decided to place my hands out like I had a dancing partner and began to waltz. Within a millisecond, a tall, handsome, blonde Draco Malfoy slipped his way into my out reaching arms.
“Hey, you,” I smiled.
“Is this okay?” he asked.
I nodded. “It’s more than okay. So, where did you know where to find me?”
“I didn’t. You just happened to be where I decided to be was all. I needed to do some thinking, but that can wait. You’re here.”
I bit my lip shyly. “Of course, I’m here.”
“Should we keep dancing? I mean, there’s no music.” He laughed.
“We should. Why waste a terribly romantic gesture?” I smiled.
“It was romantic, wasn’t it?” he smirked his sexy smirk, taking my breath away yet again.
We continued to dance in silence for just a few more moments. I drank in his grey eyes and he drunk in my blue ones. We smiled the whole time, something was beginning to happen. My lips began to tingle. I wanted him to kiss me.
“So,” he said.
“So,” I said, “Bella wants to meet you.”
“She does? This is your…?”
“Best mate,” I said, “She wants to know whose making me so happy.”
“You make me happy as well.”
I bit my lip and looked away. He took his hand off my waist and moved my face back to face his. I smiled at his smile. I licked my tingling lips and my eyes made their way done to his lips.
“Can I ki-“
I cut him off. “Don’t even ask.”
He took the hint and pressed his lips to mine.
