Two weeks and I had no progress! None with finding the cabinet, and none with Hanna. I guess you can call her hugging me progress. She asked if I was back with Pansy last night. I wonder if that’s a sign that she’s into me? As in more than a friend.

“Blaise,” I asked in need of his advice, “do you think that Hanna likes me?”

“I dunno, mate. I haven’t seen you two actually spending time together. Tell me what goes on every night that you meet her. What does she do?” he asked.

I smiled. “We play as if we were children. She said something the other night. I asked her if she would ever fall for me. She answered that falling for me was like falling into a frozen lake, but she was willing to take that chance. What does that mean?”

He shook his head. “I dunno, but she does like you. She said she was willing to take the chance. Just ask her what she meant about the whole frozen lake business.”

I sighed. “I will next time I see her.”

“Do it, man, or you’ll never know. Girls like being mysterious, especially if it turns the guy on,” he smirked.

“Fuck you, mate.”

“You only wish you could,” he laughed.

I rolled my eyes and looked at my watch, “It’s time for potions. First class of the day with Slughorn. Just shoot me now,” I complained.

“He gets on my nerves too, just bite your tongue. Mommy and daddy made you take this, remember?” He said sarcastically.

When we entered the classroom, my eyes landed on her. Hanna looked beautiful with her hair down, framing her face. She hardly ever wore it down. She was simply breath taking, not that she wasn’t any other time. She noticed me and waved with a huge smile on her face. I waved back before sitting down next to Blaise.

“Hello, today we are going to be split up in partners. We’re done with all that boring class work. Now it’s onto the good stuff!” Slughorn said cheerfully, “I’m going to call your names, just wait patiently.”

I crossed my fingers under the table, but first I showed them crossed to Hanna, whom was across the room. She grinned and did the same, hiding her crossed fingers under the table. I then focused on the professor, as much as I didn’t want to.

“Malfoy and Zambini,” he said when he came to my name.

I groaned. Not because I was I was paired to my best mate, but because I didn’t get paired with Hanna. He knew it too, so he didn’t complain…much.

“What? Am I not good enough for you?” he asked, laughing.

“Shut it,” I spat, listening closely to who Hanna was being paired with.

“Weasley and Honeyyeager,” he announced merrily.

I watched closely as Ron Weasley moved to the seat beside Hanna. He smiled broadly at her and said something. I then wished that I could read lips right then. She laughed at what he said. He smiled in triumph. Anger started to prickle my insides.

“You will be working on the drought of peace,” he then paused, “Mr. Malfoy?”

My head snapped at our professor. “Yes, sir?”

“Are you alright?” he asked.

“Yes. Perfect. Just peachy.”

“It seems the opposite, son,” he said, pointing at my quill, which was in splinters now and bloodying my hand.

I looked back over at Hanna, who had a concerned look on her face. I waved my wand, fixing my quill and stopping the bleeding. I smiled at her. She weakly returned it. I then looked at Blaise, who looked as if he was trying not to laugh.

“You’re jealous,” he simply stated when he caught his breath.

“No, I’m not,” I said, looking down at my book.

He shook his head. “Yes, you are.”

I looked back over at Hanna, who was now laughing at something that the Weasel had said. How funny is he? Anger went from a prickle to a burning sensation. He was right. I was jealous.

Insanely, madly, angrily jealous.
