Chapter 27
Misunderstanding
Just as Anthony was finishing up with Diana's arm bandage. Duncan and Becker burst into the laboratory. Duncan swinging the 2 x 4 at Anthony trying not to hurt Troiannne or the baby. Becker grabbed her and pulled her behind a table for safety.
"Stop Duncan, Stop, he is helping us! Stop, Oh please don't hit him! OOH, STOP This instant, Becker do something!"
Becker was leaving this fight to Duncan. He had the board after all.
Whop! Too late the board landed upside Anthony's head. Barely feeling the blow of the board, but seeing his own blood flowing down his cheek, brought out the hidden beast in him, he lunged for Duncan knocking him over another table with all kinds of glass jars filled with liquids of all sorts in them. Duncan landed in a mass of broken glass, cutting his back to shreds. Blood was oozing from every cut, and there were many. Anthony lunged at Duncan again, this time with the intent of hurting him bad.
Diana let out a wail! Her blue eyes flashed, she held out her little hands, lightening flashed from her palms and Anthony went flying backwards into a cabinet. He moved to get up, but was held down by an invisible force. Diana, was holding him off from hurting Duncan again.
Gaining some sense back into his brain, Anthony held up his hands yelling at Diana.
"Alright princess, I won't hurt him, it was just instinct. You can trust me your majesty I promise. The fighting is over."
Just as quickly as it appeared her light was gone and she was cooing her happiness that the immortal had conceded.
"Thank you your majesty, I am forever in your debt."
Pulling her tiny head up and looking him in the eyes, she nodded her head. She understood that he would never do anything like that ever again.
Becker and Troianne came out of their hiding place as Duncan pulled himself up straight, albeit in much pain from the cuts on his back.
"Anthony, please explain to these two gentleman what you have told me, help them to understand that you mean us no harm."
"I do not want to hear a word from this man, Duncan said waving his hand at Anthony in disgust."
"Troi, how can you trust this man, he is your kidnapper?"
"Well not really...he actually is an immortal Jumper here to protect Diana from the bad Followers."
"Immortal! Duncan screamed, Good God Troianne you cannot be serious? Are you mad? Has he brainwashed you? Oh Angel, tell me you didn't fall for this ruse!"
Becker, I thought you were the only Jumper? Care to explain?"
"Honestly, Duncan, I have known no others who can do as I."
Becker looked toward his daughter, he heard Diana in his mind, telling him to trust Anthony. He looked at her and nodded with understanding. Becker moved over to Duncan, held his hand to Duncan's heaving chest and said: "Hold on Duke, I think this man speaks the truth. I have heard of a certain person who has infiltrated the Followers in order to destroy them. Although I had no idea of any involvement by Immortals." He looked to Anthony for the answers.
"Please, er, my lord.....uh...Duncan....is it?
Duncan nodded.
"Yes, well please let me explain all of this? When you hear my story, hopefully you will understand and trust me, trust me enough to take a look at your back also, you may need some glass removed and possibly stitches to heal the cuts."
"I know what I need, I am a physician, unlike you I can heal the sick and wounded."
"I also can heal the sick and wounded my lord, just in a different way, can you not let me explain?"
"Yes Duncan, please allow him to tend to your back and explain! Troianne pleaded.
Looking in her beautiful sea green eyes, he could not deny her anything. "For you my love, I will listen." He walked to wear Troianne stood with Diana and gave her a quick kiss on the forehead. Looking down to Diana, he smiled and kissed her too. She gurgled her approval.
"Well have at it Lord Anthony, tell us why you have my lady and child here in this warehouse, and most of all tell us what you are!"

After explaining everything to Duncan and Becker, Anthony invited them to stay with him for the evening meal. It was a surreal event really. The men talked and discussed what would happen now that the misunderstanding had been cleared up. Would they go home on the next ship or would they stay for a while and let Anthony better understand Diana's true magic?

In the underworld dwelling somewhere between the fires of hell and the cold, unrelenting earth. The leader of all Followers, Tardik. sits on his tree root throne surrounded by the hounds of hell and the demons sent up to haunt the depths of the evil kingdom of Brogg. Tardik is darkness and fear, those who cross his path, certainly always do his ordered bidding. None have been brave enough to go against his wishes until now. Damn that Monsieur Garvey, he had disobeyed him, killing his Daughter Lena and letting the child get away from his grasp. Well Garvey had paid for his sin against Tardik, in fact he was still suffering in the torture chambers of hell. Every imaginable, horribly gruesome thing one can think of had been Garvey's fate for disobeying Tardik. Now it was up to Tardik's nephew Joe to follow through with his uncles wishes. Would his young prodigy succeed? Tardik certainly hoped so, or else he would see the same fate as Garvey. Calling for Joe, he explained what he wanted and how it would be done.
"Do not disappoint me nephew, that's an order!"
"I understand Uncle and agree to do what you have asked of me. I shall not fail you like Garvey did!"
"Then go now, bring the child to me and you shall rule the underworld one day at my side!"

Lurking in the shadows of the warehouse Joe Nelson watched the discussion going on in the dining of Anthony's home. Joe was a main roll player in the forthcoming prophecy in which Troianne would give birth to a daughter, one with strange and amazing powers. He and Lena had been assigned to Troianne long ago, long before Troianne was even born. The Elder Followers had known through there spirit guides that a child would be born to the one who was called the Jumper, Becker Love. Becker's meeting Troianne was not by chance. It had been prophesied and then made to come into fruision by the guidance of Joe and Lena who had been the watchers over Troianne until she could be impregnated by Becker. The most high Elder of the Followers is called Tardik. He is the oldest Follower of all time. His age is estimated to be over 5000 years old. Some say that he was friends with Lucifer and that Lucifer had assigned Tardik to oversee the legions of Mind Benders. Mind Benders being ones that can manipulate a humans brain to serve there own purposes. Hence the Followers manipulating the Time Travelers into taking them through time without the Travelers knowledge.
Now Tardik has ordered Joe to seize the child for himself. Tardik wishes to trap the magic that Diana possesses. Since Garvey failed at giving Tardik what he wanted it is up to Joe to complete the task.
Joe had the child in his site. Getting past Anthony Batwestfeld would be the challenge. Being an Immortal with superhuman strength and a certain magic of his own would prove to be a daunting task. However to fail Tardik would be most grievous. Just like Garvey who was taken back to Tardik by one of his legion of Canine henchmen, he was sure of certain death if he failed.
