CHAPTER 34

Romance and Love!

Becker soon realized he was not wanted or needed. Judging by the way Duncan and Troianne were entwined with one another when he bounded down the stairs moments earlier. He thought about leaving them alone. It made him feel jealous and mad that what could have been his was now Duncan's and it just didn't sit well with his heart. He thought, nay, he guessed, the best thing for him to really do was leave the lovers alone for a time. He needed to check on things in 1863 anyhow, talk with the Society about their travel to France and what all had transpired while they had been there. He sought his clothes from the dryer and watched as the two love birds quietly talked while making more soup.

Pulling on his trousers Becker interrupted the couple announcing his plans for departure. "You are correct Duncan, I do believe it is time for me to take my leave. I shall return with news of our adventure back to England. I will contact you in a few days letting you know how it all transpires. In the meanwhile I expect the two of you will remain vigilant about safety in regards to our Diana."

"That is quite admirable of you Love, you can be sure that Troianne and I will take proper precautions as to all of our safety. Please find out what you can and do report back." Duncan held out his hand for a shake and all was well. Troianne walked up to Becker and gave him a hug. "Be safe in your travel and return when you can."

Becker looked into Troiannes eyes and the regret at having to leave almost brought him to his knees, he tipped his head her bidding the mother of his child a sad a due, he ran upstairs to the nursery before he could shed a tear. Finding Diana cooing to herself in her crib he smiled, tears blurring his vision looking down at the one thing he was more proud of than anything in this world or the next.

"Hello little princess". Picking her up from the crib and holding her against his heart he spoke softly; "I will be leaving for a bit, if anything should happen to upset you, you know how to contact me. I love you my precious and always will. Now, you be good to your mother and father and when I return I shall have a special surprise for you. The baby smiled and cooed making a little O with her pink lips. Her eyes began to shine blue light and he knew that she understood every word he spoke. Kissing her gently and smelling her little baby head he placed her back into her crib, Seconds later her was gone. Diana puckered up and started to cry. She knew that Becker loved her and she would miss him terribly.

Troianne heard Diana cry and came up to the nursery to check on her. "There, there little one. Your Uncle Becker will be back soon, do not fret. I shall miss him too! He is a wonderful man for giving me you and I shall ever be grateful for his selfishness. Papa, Duncan and I will be your parents, you shall be loved more than any other child on earth. She picked up her daughter to soothe what seemed like a tiny broken heart. Troianne started singing "You are my sunshine my only sunshine, you make me happy when skies are gray"... Diana seemed to calm with the slow swaying of her mothers body.

Just beyond the doorway Duncan watched his angel hold their princess, He would never ever take for granted the two gifts that he had been given, He spoke softly to himself. Thank you God and thank you Becker for giving me the woman of my dreams and a child to love forever. With that he left mother and child alone to comfort one another.

Sometime later Troianne emerged from the nursery and walked into her bedroom to find Duncan sound asleep on the bed. Not wanting to wake him she slowly climbed into the bed beside him and curled herself around his sleeping form. In automatic response to her warmth he placed his arm around her neck and pulled her onto his chest, Kissing her head he relaxed even more than either thought possible, both fell into a much needed deep sleep.

Sometime in the middle of the night Duncan woke up to hear Diana fussing in her crib. He rose quietly as not to disturb Troianne. He crept quietly to the nursery to quiet his new daughter down. He then changed her diaper. At first he had to look closely at the paper wrapped around her little waist. "No pins?" "No fasteners of any kind?" "What kind of sorcery was this?" he thought to himself. How did he get it off? Tugging it off like a pair of pants he finally had her bottom free of the paper contraption, reaching for another that sat on the table beside the crib. He stared at it in fascination. So what held the diaper together? Upon closer inspection he marveled at the enclosures on either side of the diaper, somehow they just magically clung together. "This future world sure has many surprises my little one," he said to the now smiling baby. Placing her back in her crib, she snuggled up to her blanket and closed her eyes. Duncan placed a kiss on her forehead and turned out the small lamp by the crib.

He made his way back to bed next to Troianne. She stretched and turned to look at him in the moonlit darkness of the room.

" Did the baby wake?" she asked him. "Yes and I managed all by myself to change her nappy and put her back to sleep." Shock registered on her face. "Nooo, you, you changed a diaper?" "Yes indeed, I will have you know, my angel, I even figured out a way to fasten the darn thing back on her wee body." With a smug smile he gloated. "I would have never thought you could make paper so soft as to be suitable for a babies bottom." "It is simply marvelous!" Laughing Troianne, reached for his handsome face and placed a kiss on his lips.

"I will have you know my wonderful, darling, man that there are many more marvels to be found here in the future."

Reaching to pull her into his arms. "Is there now my angel?" May-hap you would like to show me a bit of the future tonight."

"Tonight I just want it to be us. No future, no past, just you and I, this feeling that has made me want you so desperately is so strong." He pushed a strand of hair from her face, "does this mean we do not have to wait until the wedding?" He prayed in all earnest for her to consent to his possession of her body tonight. "Yes, Duncan it means tonight I want you to make love to me. I need you so bad." With a grunt of lust he held her tighter and whispered in her ear: "Angel this means the world to me, I Love you."

Bodies entwined as one, passion and longing filling every space in between, he took her to the moon and back. She took him to heaven on her angel wings.
