A person opened the door for whoever was inside and when we got close enough a woman was in there like royalty.
The Doctor smiled, "Rose, Percy...might I introduce her majesty, Queen Victoria, Empress of India, and Defender of Faith."
"Rose Tyler, ma'am and my apology for being so naked." Rose said bowing slightly.
"I have five daughters. It's nothing to me." She replied
Upon her majesty's eyes I smiled shyly and said, Percy McCrimmon." I said remembering the lie the Doctor told about me being his son.
After introducing myself she looked to the Doctor, "But you, Doctor, show me these credentials." She said
The Doctor handed over his wallet to the majesty, "why didn't you saw so immediately?" her majesty said, "It states clearly here that you have been appointed by the Lord Provost as my protector."
"Does it?" The Doctor asked slightly but covered it up, "Yes, it does. Good, good. Um-then let me ask- why is your majesty traveling by road when there's a train all the way to Aberdeen?"
"A tree on the line." Her majesty replied shortly
"An accident?" I asked
"I am the queen of the United Kingdom and Great Britain and Ireland," she stated, "Everything around me tends to be planned."
"An assassination attempt?" The Doctor asked
Rose asked the Queen, "What, seriously, there's people out to kill you?" I really wanted to point out that's what happened when you have high power.
The Queen replied to Rose, "i am quite used to staring down the barrel of a gun."
A fellow on a horse told us and the Queen, "Sir Robert MacLeish lives but ten miles hence. We've send word ahead. He'll shelter us for tonight, then we can reach Balmoral tomorrow."
The Queen responded, "This doctor, his son, and their...timorous beastie will come with us."
"Yes Ma'am." The soldier replied as the Doctor grinned a little when the queen said 'timorous beastie', "We better get moving, it's almost nightfall." the soldier said to the queen.
The queen replied to the man but also addressed the Doctor, Rose, and I,"Indeed, and there are stories of wolves in these parts, fanciful tales intended to scare the children, but good for the blood, I think. Drive on."
As they were walking along side the carriage Rose commented, "It's funny, though, 'cause you say 'Assassinations,' and you just think of Kennedy and stuff, not her.
Before the Doctor could comment and I did, "1879 - she had, ooh...six attempts on her life?" I looked to the Doctor to confirm and he looked pleasantly surprised I knew the answer and nodded showing I was correct.
"And I'll just tell you something else," The Doctor started to say, "we just met Queen Victoria."
"I know!" Rose said hitting the Doctor's arm lightly with excitement as I smiled.
"What a laugh." The Doctor said back, "She was just sitting there, like a stamp."
"I want her to say, 'We are not amused.' I bet you 5 quid I can make her say it." Rose said and I grinned knowing not to bet because she could most likely achieve it.
The Doctor said, "Well, if I gambled on that, it's be an abuse of my privilege as a traveler in time."
"10 Quid?" Rose asked
"Done." The Doctor said and I smiled and shook my head in amusement, "I'm with Rose." I said smiling, The Doctor had a slight offended look but it was mostly full of admiration.
Shortly we arrived at a small castle structure with stone as roads and small gardens and fountains were around the place. The pane glass windows were dark so you couldn't really see through it.
Percy had a dark feeling about this place especially when one of the animals a wolf he could talk to was being a bit haywire.
It made him twitch his fingers every so often at the fact that his communication with wolves were weird.
The carriage drive got off and help the queen out of her carriage as a man and his servants arrived to invite the queen in.
"Your majesty." The man said bowing
"Sir Robert." The Queen replied with a small smile, "my apology for the emergency. And how is Lady Isobel?" The queen asked
"She's..." Sir Robert hesitated on the word and my eyes narrowed at him my mind racing as the man finished his thought, "indisposed, I'm afraid. She's gone to Edinburgh for the season."
I knew it was a lie but didn't know why he would be lying, I could tell he loved her so...why lie? Was she cheating on him, not likely then...
My thoughts were cut off from the conversation, "And she's taken the cook with her." Well that answered that but he was still lying, why lie about his mistress cheating on him, "The kitchens are...barely stocked, I wouldn't blame your majesty if you wanted to ride on."
There was something in his voice, he was practically begging her in a way to ride on and not stop here. The Doctor was also looking at the conversation with interest. I took one look at the servants and they seemed to be looking at Sir Robert with an unreadable facial expression.
"Oh, not at all." Her majesty said not hearing his tone of voice, "I've had quite enough carriage exercise, and this is...charming, if rustic" As she was speaking sir Robert swallowed in a way of weariness and possibly guilt.
"It's my first visit to this house. My late husband spoke of it quite often. The Torchwood Estate." My head snapped straighter as I recognized the name, "Now, shall we go inside?" her majesty asked, "and please excuse the Naked Girl."
"Sorry." Rose said slightly in embarrassment.
"She's a feral child." I added and having to bit my cheek to keep from grinning at our little show.
The Doctor added with my sentence, "I bought her for sixpence in Old London Town. It was her or the Elephant Man, so..."
"Thinks he's funny, but I'm not amused. What do you think ma'am?" Rose said slightly serious but playful. My cheek was also hurting from trying to keep the amused grin off my face, thankfully succeeding.
"It hardly matters." The queen said back to her and turned back to Robert, "Shall we proceed?"
Sir Robert nodded and I could still tell he was anxious about something but right now we turned and started to walk into the estate.
