Chapter 3:  War of Thorns Part 1

While his main goal was to just survive from one day to another, Lance had another goal ingrained in his very essence; his search for information on the whereabouts of the Princess of Lycans, Pandora.

While on the move, Lance was watched from afar by a mysterious figure. As Lance enters a mountain passage, he suddenly finds himself surrounded by mercenaries and supernatural beings called tendrils.

“ Well this is something new, never thought I would see the day humans and the supernatural together.” Lances words rang true at that time, as there was an unspoken law that the two entities would not meddle with each other.

“Times have changed.” Stated one of the many mercenaries that were surrounding Lance.

“I see...Even with all of you here; you won’t even be able to scratch me.” Looking around, Lance knew that the mercenary were nothing more than cannon fodder meant to keep him busy for a while.

“You think you have what it takes to take down all these tendrils?” Said the mercenary with a smug look on his face, as if the tendrils strength was his own.

“It’s your last warning. Back Off!” Lance tries to show them his fangs and yellow colored eyes as a means to threaten them, but to no avail.

Unaffected by his speech the enemy begins their attack, several supernatural tendril immobilize Lance and the mercenary humans go straight for his neck.

The tendrils are plant creatures that use long tentacles to catch their prey, once they latch on, they grow roots that connect to the ground, essentially pinning the victim down. In Lance’s case, they barely manage to keep him still.

“Fenrir’s Roar!” As the name suggested, Lance lets out an unnatural howl from his lungs, much like the one Pandora did.

“Wha…?” One by one, the mercenaries fall to the ground, as the tendrils loosen their tight grip around Lance.

Lance’s roar knocks out every enemy around him and the supernatural tendrils bow down to him as if he were their king.

His roar is capable of knocking out most humans, while the weaker supernatural creatures will turn to his side out of fear.

Lance makes the tendrils take the humans to the closest town to be treated, seeing as some of them have had their heart stopped for a few seconds.

However he doesn’t let his guard down, sensing a new presence in the vicinity, he prepares for a new roar.

“Woah-whoa! Stop right there, I don’t want the same fate as them, besides I am only a messenger.” Said the individual dressed in clothing similar to that of a ninja.

“Do you really think you could trick me so easily? You are by far the strongest, although you have a human form, you have the scent of a supernatural creature on you.” Said Lance with an angered look, still poised to attack at the slightest movement.

“Hooo, no wonder you are a famous bounty, you’re good.” Said the messenger, acting as relaxed as he could.

“Flattery won’t do you any good, what are you and what do you want?” Cutting to the chase, Lance expected the messenger to attack him.

“ Yes! Well what I am, you will find out in due time. What I want? Well nothing, but what my contractor wants from you is your assistance!” The messenger’s way of talking managed to make Lance curious as to what this contractor wanted.

“And why should I help your contractor?” Regardless of his interests, Lance felt as if he did not have anything to gain from assisting him and only listened to understand the bigger picture.
