Chapter 33: Freak Encounter 11
Awakened by an unfamiliar heat and heartbeat, Freakshow gasped for air only to end up coughing, due to the sourness of the gas he inhaled.
Straining his eyes to see in the hot, damp and restrictive darkness, he remembered what happened in the last few seconds before his black out.
He remembered seeing the gates of death opening before his eyes, and for the first time he could see the visage from the other side of the gate emerge in order to take him to the underworld, before losing his sight thanks to the beasts mouth that had engulfed him.
As he remembered, he tried to peer through the darkness once more, and unlike anything he had seen before, the gates of death were everywhere. Every person in the arena, including the Hydra that had swallowed him, had the gates of death above their head, which slowly began opening.
Only one seemed to close rather than open, and Freakshow knew who’s that one was, but he no longer had the luxury to be a passive onlooker, as he finally entered the inside of the beasts stomach.
Realizing the danger of falling into pools of acid that kept building up, Freakshow stabbed his swords deep into its flesh in order to stop his fall.
While Freakshow struggled to live, Lance had finally healed from the damage, angrier than ever, it looked like he was about to unleash all of his monstrous power upon the beast.
But he noticed something dripping from the beasts gut, as it lifted one of its legs in an attempt to crush Lance. Rolling beneath the beast in order to confirm his suspicion, he noticed the tip of Freakshows blade piercing through the skin.
“Interesting, I wonder if I can take it out before that kid dies.” Lance asked himself as he cracked his knuckles.
“I guess there is only one way to find out, and that’s to just shut up and do it!” Lance said, as he jumped forward while throwing a punch straight into the beast’s abdomen.
Sensing the disturbance from the outside, Freakshow reacted just on time to the recoil from Lance’s punch, jumping towards the other side of the stomach wall, while avoiding bucket sized droplets of acid in mid air.
“What is that idiot doing!?” Freakshow asked himself, while focusing on reacting too every trepidation that was caused by Lance’s attacks.
Avoiding the acidic spit and the assault from the hydras many heads, Lance continued to focus on the vulnerable underbelly, bruising it so much that the light green color turned into a purple that signaled massive internal bleeding.
Noticing the constant damage delivered to the abdomen, Freakshow attempted to position himself in just the right place to pierce through the weakened defense.
Both Lance and Freakshow knew what to do, and only the beasts repeated assaults and regeneration, delayed the completion of their plan.
“Tch, pissing me off like that! It’s time I stop playing around. Fenrir’s Roar!” Using his unnatural howl, Lance managed to temporarily stun the beast.
“Fenrir Aurora + Fenrir’s Ring!” Jumping into the air and unleashing his unnatural werewolf abilities, he managed to create a very long and sharp stretching of hair, which he then proceeded to spin in mid air in order to sever all eight of the beast’s heads.
While its body was still stiff from the shock of losing its heads, Lance snuck beneath the beast, where he unleashed a volley of punches strong enough to rupture the flesh.
Noticing at last the chance to escape, Freakshow unleashed a series of sharp swings of his blades that allowed him to escape the beast’s belly.
In all this time, the public and Scorpio were mesmerized by Lance’s valiant struggle and relentless assault, and with the emergence of Freakshow who everyone considered dead, an uproar of cheers unlike any before snapped Lance and Freakshow from their focused state.
“Ha…Well that was a good exercise, worthy of someone of my caliber.” Lance said as he looked at Freakshow with a friendly gaze, only to change into a bewildered one.
“Still there…they are slowly opening more…” Freakshow mumbled to himself, before turning his gaze towards Scorpio.
This sudden reaction, took both Scorpio and Lance by surprise as his whole body seemed to shiver as he asked.
“What is the Landlord doing!?” His voice seemed both angered and scared at the same time as he questioned Scorpio, but before Scorpio could react, another magic circle appeared, this time encompassing the entire city.
