Chapter 20:  Jack the Ripper

Still singing, the woman’s voice seemed to get closer to the portal, only for it get farther away moments later. This continued for more than ten minutes, but oddly enough the Count seemed to enjoy her singing as he did nothing to interrupt it.

“Oh my!” The woman’s voice said, as she had finally noticed the portal.

“Is that you Viktor?” The woman asked, as she got closer to the portal to get a better look.

“Good day to you, Pandora.” The Count said as he smiled.

“It was unexpectedly soon of you to contact me, did something happen to Lance?” Pandora asked, while readying herself for some bad news.

“No, he is fine. There is something else that I have stumbled upon.” The Count said, as he moved out of the way in order to allow Pandora to see the dragons body, and more importantly its nest.

“What turned OU* into this?” Recognizing the dragon as one of her acquaintances, Pandora demanded an answer from the Count.

“That was one of the reasons I contacted you.” The Count said as he reentered the frame in the portal while holding a piece of flesh from the dragon in one hand and a bone from the skeletons in the other.

“From the dragons flesh, magic similar to that of the Titans can be felt. While from this bone we can narrow down the culprit to the exact one.” The Count said, as he threw the bone at Pandora through the portal.

“…Phemos!” Pandora said, as she crushed the bone in her hands.

“The only question unanswered was how he managed to enter the world.” The Count said, as he threw the flesh from his hand onto the ground.

“What about the nest?” Pandora asked, but before she could have said anything else, a dark scythe coated in feelings of hatred and sorrow pops into view, being held by the Count.

“It was lucky of us that I came here before it got out of control. I think Phemos was trying to create another “Sonzai Kieru” using the soul of an old god at its base.” The Count said, as he studied the scythe with an interested look.

“Seeing as you are interested in this scythe, I will leave it to you to take care of it. But don’t come crying to me if it bites the hand that feeds it.” Pandora said, as she closed the portal with a vicious strike of her claws.

“You always worried about such things, but don’t you worry. This one is easier to handle than “Sonzai Kieru”, since it is still incomplete.” The Count placed the scythe on the ground surrounding it with glyphs drawn into the brown soil.

After doing that, he went towards the mantle that was covering Lance. Invoking all the trapped souls that were inside it, he studied each and every one of them, looking for a specific one.

Inside the darkness, Lance’s moments of silence were disturbed by hundreds of screams that were coming from below, and those that passed him from above.

“Can things get any stranger than this…!?” Before he could even say anything else, Lance felt the blood in his veins freeze, as something with incredible malice passed by him.

Viktor!” The voice roared as it mentioned his name, while its eye which was bigger than those around it on the mantle, stared straight at the Count.

“There you are, Jack the Ripper!” The Count said with a distasteful smile.

Here I am, and here you are!” Jack said with a voice overflowing with hatred.

“I am going to give you a second chance at seeing the world. The same world which you treated like a playground to satisfy your macabre curiosities.” The Count said with resentment.

“How generous of you…release me!” The voice said with impatience.

“There are a few conditions though. You are to obey my every command, and promise never to try to betray me.” The Count said as he negotiated with the presence from inside the mantle.

“Fine…anything to get out of this hellhole.”As the voice accepted the terms that the Count had said, he started gathering inside the palm of the Count, turning into a dark crystal.

Having secured the spirit inside a dark crystal, he inserted it inside the dark scythe that was still in the circle comprised of glyphs.

In the first few seconds after the insertion, the scythe exploded into hundreds of pieces inside the circle, but slowly it reconstructed itself into a design even more lethal than before.

The blade of the scythe was even longer, and had on the inner and outer edges serrated ends similar to shark teeth, which enabled it to make a bloody mess out of anything it cut. But other than that, the feeling of hatred and sorrow only seemed to have gotten stronger.

After it finally reconnected every piece, the Count moved closer.

“Is it done? Did you eliminate the soul of that god?” He asked, as he got ready to break the magic circle.

“Yeah! I made this scythe my home now. Show me the world I haven’t seen in hundreds of years.” The voice said with sorrow and impatience.

“Don’t worry, you will get your fill.” The Count said as he grabbed the scythe.

Until next chapter, have a good day or good night.
