Chapter 24: Freak Encounter Part 2
As Lance made his spectacular entrance into the world of the paid fighters, The Count was about to stumble across a familiar face, that he thought was gone forever.
Finally escaping the confined space of the sewers, the Count is welcomed by the familiar smell of fresh water, and the misty smell of the air around the lake. However unlike before, standing in the middle of the lake was a white female in the shape of a ghost.
“It…can’t be!?” For the first time, the Count seemed unable to keep his cool, as he walked closer towards the small glow of the ghost. The lake itself seemed to support his weight and allowed him to walk across it without getting wet.
“Viktor…I am glad I could see you one last time.” The ghost said with a small smile.
“I never thought that I would ever see you again…what happened after those events…where did you go…why…!?” Before he could ask anything else, the ghost gave him a hug, while whispering to his ears “I am sorry Viktor.”
This simple gesture calmed the Counts heart, which was seething with unanswered questions and unfulfilled feelings.
“Soon after our victories…I was caught and turned into the abomination that your friend killed earlier. Why they didn’t kill me outright and turned me into that abomination is a mystery, but in the end it worked in our favor.” The ghost said with hopeful eyes.
“What do you mean?” The Count asked.
“I gave that boy a powerful blessing, the strongest I could give. If he can tap into its full potential, he would surely become a force to be reckoned with.” The girl said as she began to fade away.
“Wait…Lady of the Lake…no…Elisa the God of Water…I hope you find rest, wherever you are heading for.” The Count tried to hesitantly speak his mind, but seeing the girl fade away, he forced himself to just see her off with a final goodbye.
“…You know that isn’t true my love, but thanks.” As she spoke these words, she finally faded away, leaving behind the Count who lost more than he gained from this brief encounter, which was his former love.
But how could such a love existed, when the cursed blood were at war with the Titans. Such a mystery will find its answer in the near future. Stay tuned for more.
