Chapter 34: Freak Encounter 12
As things continued to escalate inside the arena, below it the Landlord was about to complete his summoning of one the Titans, that were capable of defeating Lance.
“Your sacrifice is ready!” The Landlord said with utter enthusiasm.
“…” Around the Landlord a massive eye peered through, studying him closely.
“What do you desire of Asmodeus the Titan of Hellfire, in exchange for this small sacrifice?” The unearthly voice asked.
“Power and immortality, fulfill these requests and our contract shall be completed.” The Landlord said with religious rapture as he allowed a few droplets of his blood to fall onto the summoning circle and into the eye. As he did, his body visibly trembled in an triumphant euphoria.
“Very well…” The voice said with disgust.
“Yeeeesssss!” The Landlord almost hissed, as the now rising temperature around him began burning away his clothes.
“I will grant you immortality and power by burning away your flesh and devouring your soul, such that you will become part of a greater power that is also immortal.” The voice said with delight, as the Landlords face turned from a euphoric smile, into a grimace of terror, as his skin turned to ashes in seconds and soon after that, all of his body followed the same fate.
With the summoning in the Titan’s control, the magic circle that the Landlord had intended to be restricted to the arena, spread to the entire city declaring all those in the circle as sacrifices.
“Just what is going on?” Freakshow asked himself, as he could not comprehend the entire situation, all he could fathom was that something big was about to happen.
Lance on the other hand, had flashbacks of the time when he battled with the Titan Olympus, the strong domineering magic that was overflowing and the intense instinct to run, made Lance lose his temper as he jumped in order to catch Scorpio, who was mumbling something to himself while trying to run away.
“Where do you think you are going!?” Lance asked as he grabbed him by the shoulder and slammed him into the wall.
“Aghhh!” Scorpio yelled in pain and in desperation.
“Something went wrong, something went horribly wrong! My father…did he fail!? Father…” Scorpio said while still trying to shake himself off of Lances tightening grip.
“WHAT DID YOUR FATHER TRY TO SUMMON?” Lance asked already aware of what was about rear its ugly head, but the last vestiges of hope he had of it not being a Titan were dashed when Scorpio answered his question.
“A Titan, my father wanted to summon one of the Titans thinking he could form a pact with it!” Scorpio said screaming as the whole city slowly started shaking from the immense power coming from below.
“That fool…” Lance said as he turned his gaze towards the center of the arena and released his grip on Scorpio.
“Did my father die…hey please save him…I know you can…please!” Desperate, Scorpio urged Lance to save his father, knowing that he was almost certainly dead and that Lance no longer was paying him any attention, but asking for help was probably the only thing he could to do stop himself from going insane.
As the shaking became even more violent, the people began panicking as they tried to leave the arena, but blocking all four of the exits were the four dark cloaked men, seeing that taking place, Lance decided to intervene.
“Let them leave!” Lance said as he tried to punch one of dark cloaked ones, but as he neared him, a strong wind blew him away and with it the cloaks covering their faces as well.
“Ahhhh!” Scorpio screamed as hard as he could, as if he had seen a ghost.
“What are the former great heroes of this world doing here!? Acting as bodyguards for my father no less!?” Scorpio said in disbelief.
“Great heroes…?” Lance asked as he stared at the closest one with doubt.
