I walked into the baby shower venue. Which, by the way was some building in San Francisco that my mom and Dove rented out. They were the hosts of my baby shower. Of course JC and Blair helped but, Dove was sort of a control freak. I took a left and opened the double doors. Blue. Blue EVERYWHERE. It was no secret that I was having a boy. To say Carter was excited was an understatement. As soon as I walked in, everyone starts cheering. I do a dramatic spin in my army green sweater dress, maroon leggings, and brown riding boots. My hair was done in a headband bun, with some curled hair hanging out, framing my face. Dove ran up to me and handed me my "IT'S A BOY!" blue sash, which I happily put over my 7, almost 8 month old belly.

"AREN'T YOU EXCITED?!" Dove yelled as everyone started getting up to hug me.

"Of course! Why wouldn't I be?" I asked, hugging her.

"I'm going to go sit down until you're ready to eat." She said as my belly rumpled. I rubbed my stomach, blushing.

"He's hungry now.." I laughed. He started kicking me as I was hugging everyone. I guess he was saying 'HURRY UP MOM. I'M HUNGRY NOW!' But, I couldn't hurry anymore. I wanted to say 'Thanks for coming' to everyone. By the way, saying words about 100 times makes those words not even sound like words anymore.

Once I hugged and thanked everyone, I sat down and my mom brought me a plate full of food. "Thanks!" I said, looking down at the salad, spaghetti, and breadsticks. I was only about a month from my due date so it was really time to start cracking down on my healthy eating. Everybody ate their food and talked to each other. I talked to JC and Blair a lot. I always felt like I didn't see them as much as I did Dove.

"What do you think?" I asked, gesturing to the room around me.

"I think it looks great!" Blair said.

"It all seems so real now." JC said, looking down at my big belly. I felt like I was about to pop.

"Touch him, he's kicking." I said and grabbed both of their hands placing them where my baby was kicking. He must've been wide awake because he had been kicking on and off for about an hour.

"That's too weird!" JC said as she jerked her hand back.

"I think it's sweet!" Blair said, smiling.

"I'm sorry." JC said trying to give me a sentimental smile. I get it. It's hard seeing your best friend grow up so fast and actually feeling a human move inside of her.

"You're fine." I laughed, "I understand completely."

Dove got our attention by telling us we were eating cake, then presents. The cake was two tiered. It only said "Baby Boy!" on it because I hadn't picked out a name yet and that scared me. I've known this human, my human for almost 8 months and I don't know his name yet. Anyways, the cake was light blue (of course) and had medium and dark blue polka dots on one cake and dark blue chevrons on the other. I got my piece of chocolate and sat down in my chair at the front of the room. I think I deserved this piece of cake. I ate healthy for supper. Plus, I decided not to eat ice cream so, I was making a healthy choice here. I scarfed my cake down so I texted Carter while I waited.

Me: Hey, what're you doing?

Carter: Hanging with the guys. Aren't you supposed to be doing baby shower things?

Me: I'm waiting for everyone to finish their cake

Carter: Hey, when you get home we need to talk.
