[Three]
*Shaye*
February 3, 2054
After Colton, Nile and Stella left, I joined my family in the living room. The three of us all sat on the couch, me in the middle between two brawny men. I was the first to start crying again. It didn't take my father long after to join me. Actually, after he saw the first tear roll down my cheek, he was a sobbing mess.
I leaned into him and we embraced each other while Mason stared at the fireplace, his face void of emotion. But I knew what he was feeling. I could tell by the painful gulp he took, that he was trying to hold in his tears.
"If anything happens to me-" My mother began speaking, her hands on both mine and Mason's shoulders.
"Mom..." Mason bites out. Mom shakes her head, giving us wide eyes, begging for us to listen.
"Mason; I need you to be strong. For your sister... your father. Protect them." Our mother moves her hand from his shoulder to grab the back of his neck, running her fingers through the ends of his hair. "Shaye; don't let anyone tell you that you can't. You are strong and brave. Protect your brother and father as well. You will all need to look out for each other."
"You're speaking as though you know you're going to die." I whisper. A lone tear rolls down her cheek as she pulls us into a tight hug.
"Oh my babies. I love you so much." She says both aloud and through the mind link. I clutch to her tightly, praying that this isn't goodbye.
Mason is being strong, just as mother asked him to be.
But to cry only shows immense strength.
After our crying session, we all excused ourselves to go to bed. I was emotionally and mentally exhausted. I yearned to crawl into bed, curl up into a ball and clutch the Mae Donovan perfumed drenched teddy bear. After she died, I ran into her room, grabbed her special Ralph Lauren Blue perfume. I have it hidden away, only to be taken out to reapply the scent onto the bear.
It wasn't until two o'clock in the morning when I realized my father never fell asleep.
I throw on my silk robe, covering up my sleep shorts and tank top as I tip toe down stairs to see my father sitting on the couch. The glow of the TV shines on his face as he sobs.
What is he doing?
"Daddy?" I whisper, briskly walking to stand beside the couch. My eyes zero in on the screen, my heart clenching tight as my bottom lip trembles. I plop down beside my father, watching as my mother speaks to Grandpa Landon. She is dressed in her beautiful, white wedding dress. It is a one shoulder dress, with a sweetheart neckline and elegant floral designs starts at the breast and gradually becoming less abundant as it moves downward. Her back is open, which is mostly what we are seeing right now as Grandpa cries softly.
Mae reaches up, wiping his tears away. She is so beautiful. Her brown hair is pinned up in a braided, twisty bun with soft tendrils falling out by her ears.
My father quickly changes the TV setting so there are subtitles.
The camera footage goes blank for a moment until it reappears, us now watching my mother walk down the isle, with her hand in the crook of Grandpas arm. The wedding is beautiful. They held it in the backyard, with a beautiful white arch at the end of the isle. There is an array of white and pink flowers.
My mother chose pink for her color scheme. Poor Travis wasn't happy about wearing a pink vest. I could see him looking down at it with disgust as Grandpa places Mae's hand into Lucas's.
