Goodbye, Sunset

Your smile is like sunset

Because it's not always there

But under special circumstances

I have to look away from its glare

That certain time of day

When I'm walking by myself

I'll think about it and smile too,

Think of how you show your love.

It may be in the way you smile

While your head fills up with bile

You try not to let me see,

But my darling you really can't hide it from me.

Perhaps my favorite part of that smile

Is the way it is only for me

You never show it to anyone else

To scared that they will be

Marred by your presence, scarred by your soul,

This the fear that tunnels deeper

Into that brain of yours.

You try not to let it show

How deep your love dared to go

Because I am with someone else now,

Blindly inflicting your agonized blows

So now we are stuck, me in love with both

His love like a feather, soft light strokes,

Yours like a shadow, a quiet constant oath

Unable to undo we both live the lives

We are destined to live, with no choice in our eyes.

But we still have our moments, hearts of desire buried inside,

Intertwining even more every time we say goodbye.
