Alright, so here's my first one-shot. I hope you like it!

The wind gusted tirelessly as the rain continued to pound against the windowpane. Although it was dark and dreary outside, the inside was warm and toasty; the fire in the fireplace burned brightly and kept the chill out of the air. The flames leaped and crackled as Louis added another log to the fire and used a poker to push it in place. Satisfied that the fire was well maintained, he stood up and brushed his hands off on his pants. He padded his sock-covered feet to the kitchen to see what Harry was up to. Something delicious wafted through the air and made his mouth water.

At the sound of the timer beeping, Harry opened the oven and pulled out the last tray of chocolate chip cookies and set them on top of the stove before turning the oven off.

Louis greedily reached out for one of the freshly baked cookies, but Harry lightly swatted his hand away before he could grab one.

"Lou, these just came out of the oven, like, two seconds ago. They're too hot," Harry chided him.

Louis frowned. "But I want one!" he said, putting his hands on his hips.

"Geez, Louis, have one of those," he said, gesturing to a plate of cookies on the counter that had had some time to cool off.

"Ooh! Goody!" he rubbed his hands together and beamed brightly, his eyes sparkling like the sun shining on ocean waves. Harry grinned widely as well, accentuating his dimples. He loved seeing Louis act happy and adorable, even though that was pretty much nonstop.

Louis grabbed one of the cookies and ate it in three bites and quickly went for another.

Harry chuckled. "Are they good?"

Louis gave a thumbs up as he swallowed. "The best!"

Harry smiled and bent down to kiss Louis lightly on the cheek. "Thanks, babe. I'm glad you like them."

"Seriously, Haz, you make the best cookies," he raised an eyebrow, "but don't tell my mum I said that!" he smiled mischievously.

Harry laughed. "'Course not, Lou. Your secret's safe with me," he said, grabbing a glass from the cupboard and filling it with milk. He handed it to Louis.

"Oh, thanks, babe! You're too sweet!" he said, reaching for the glass and taking a long drink. When he was finished, he set it on the counter. "Would you like to watch a movie? This weather always puts me in the mood for movies," he said.

"Sure! Go pick one and I'll tidy up the kitchen a bit," Harry replied.

"K!" he said and jogged to the living room.

Louis selected a movie and put it in the player just as Harry emerged from the kitchen with a heaping plate of cookies and two glasses of milk. He set them down on the coffee table and sat on the couch beside Louis, lifting his feet onto the couch and cuddling into him. Louis hummed in response and kissed him on the top of his curly head before grabbing the blanket off the back of the couch and throwing it over the two of them. He wrapped his arms around him and pulled him close.

They sat there and enjoyed their movie all snuggled up closely and eating some cookies, when suddenly, there was huge booming crash of thunder, followed by a flash of lightening. Harry jumped at the noise, causing Louis to squeeze him tightly.

"Scared, hun?" he asked with concern, looking into his emerald eyes.

He shook his head. "No, it just startled me. I'm alright."

"Good," he said, giving him a kiss.

Harry's hand came up to rest on Louis's cheek. When their lips parted, he said, "Your face is so rough."

"Oh," he said hesitantly. "Do you want me to shave?" he asked, searching the younger boy's eyes.

Harry smiled. "No. I like it," he answered. "It makes you even more manly and rugged than you already are."

Louis smiled brightly. "Well, thank you," he said, giving him a quick peck on the lips.

Just then, thunder boomed a second time, causing the lights to dim, and then go out completely.

Louis groaned. "I guess we won't be finishing the movie." He felt Harry nod against his shoulder.

Louis sighed. "I guess I'll go light some candles."

"No, I'll do it," Harry said, getting up.

Louis gently pushed him back down. "No, babe. I'll take care of it."

Harry looked up at him. "Lou, do you even know where the emergency candles are?" he asked, crossing his arms across his chest.

Louis opened his mouth to speak, but stopped to think. He frowned. "No," he huffed.

"Didn't think so. I'll do it."

"Fine," he sighed in defeat. "The fire's getting low. I was going to just let it go out, but now that there's no electricity, I'll go ahead and build it back up." He went to the fireplace and began adding logs to the fire while Harry lit some candles and set them around the room. When they were both done, they resumed their positions on the couch and cuddled up closely to each other. They laid there in silence, just enjoying each other's company and listening to the storm as the fire danced and leaped and let out an occasional crackle.

Harry hummed in contentment. "Lou?" he questioned.

"Yeah, love?"

"I'm kind of glad the lights went out. This is nicer than watching a movie."

"Yeah, I agree, curly."

"I love you, boo."

"I love you, too, Haz.
