Harry and Louis were returning to their hotel after having a secret date. Louis itched to hold Harry's hand, but he knew he couldn't since they were in public and management wouldn't allow it. Instead, they walked closely, eager to get back to their shared room.
They crossed the lobby and made their way to the elevator, arriving just in time for the doors to close.
Harry sighed. "I guess we'll just have to wait for it to come back," he said, reaching out and pressing the up button.
"Oh, well, curly. At least we'll have it all to ourselves," he said, smirking, causing Harry to blush and grin.
They were staying at a rather large hotel, so the wait for the elevator took quite a while, considering how many floors there were. After what felt like forever, the elevator pinged and the doors slid open, allowing the two lovers access to the little box that would take them to their floor so they could relax.
"After you," Louis whispered to Harry, who smiled and entered the lift, followed closely by Louis.
Louis pressed the button for their floor and turned to Harry, smiling widely. He reached out for him and Harry gladly sidled up into Louis's embrace, feeling his arms wrap around him lovingly. Louis reached up and pressed his lips to Harry's, the two boys sharing a loving and passionate kiss.
When they finally pulled apart, they were both breathless, panting, but smiling.
"Harry, I—" Louis started, but stopped when the elevator shuddered to a stop, no longer moving and eerily quiet.
"Lou? What's going on?" Harry said, an edge of panic in his voice.
"I don't know, babe. It's alright," he cooed. "Don't worry. I'm here," Louis said, wrapping his arms protectively around his husband. "Hold on," he said, pulling away slightly. "Let me get out my phone to call someone, yeah?" he said, looking intently into Harry's worried eyes. Harry nodded.
Louis pulled his phone from his skinny jeans and unlocked it. He quickly dialed Liam's number, but it wouldn't even ring. Confused, he tried Niall, but, again, had no success. He swore under his breath.
"What is it, boo?" Harry questioned.
"I don't have any service in this stupid lift," he said angrily. He could feel Harry tense. He looked up to him and stroked his cheek. "It's okay. We'll be alright. Someone will find us soon," he said, but the uncertainty of what he said only made Harry worry more. "I'm sorry, babe. It's okay," he said, trying to comfort him.
Desperate, he turned to the buttons, hoping there was an alarm to sound for emergencies. Gratefully, there was, and he reached out and pressed it, causing a shrill alarm to fill the air.
"See, Haz? Now they know we need help. We'll be out in no time," Louis said, hugging him closely.
After a few minutes, Louis noticed Harry's breaths become heavy. "Harry, are you okay," he asked with concern.
"I feel sick," he whispered out. "My stomach's in knots."
Pulling away from him so he could see his face, he was met with a look of sheer terror on Harry's face. "Oh, baby, it's okay, I promise. Here, let's sit down and relax, yeah?"
The two boys sat, Louis leaning against the wall with Harry on his lap, holding him tightly, trying to make him feel safe. He whispered soothing things to him while Harry nuzzled his face against his chest, listening to the comforting beat of Louis's heart.
After a while, Louis noticed that Harry's breathing seemed to calm and his tears had slowed.
"Feeling better, baby?" he asked, wiping a tear from his cheek.
"Yeah. I've never liked closed spaces. But with you here, it's not nearly so bad," he said, a small smile gracing his lips, making Louis's heart melt.
"Good," he said simply, and kissed the top of his head.
Ten minutes later, Harry was nearly asleep in Louis's arms, having finally relaxed, but feeling exhausted, when the elevator began moving again. Harry sat up and smiled at Louis.
"See, babe? I told you it'd be alright," he said, rubbing his back.
Harry nodded. "Everything's okay when you're with me," he responded, placing a kiss to Louis's lips.
Louis kissed back, and the two only pulled away when the lift dinged for their floor and began to slow. They left the elevator and went to their room, anxious to have a quiet night alone, wrapped in each other's arms.
