Hey guys sorry for the long wait school has flooded me and been holding me under water for weeks but I am finally caught up! Here is Chapter 2!

"They deemed me powerless and weak right from the start. Their targets aimed at me, these cowards leave their marks." Relentless by New Years Day

Chris

I watched her as I had been for the longest time. She was bobbing her head slightly to a tune. I couldn't hear it, but she could. I watched as she lifted her eyes to me and smiled.

That smile. The one that used to make my heart melt. I wanted to hold her, preserve that happiness for as long as I could. I started to move towards her but so became too winded. She wasn't that far away, I had run farther at Warped Tour. I watched as that smile still shone but someone else was holding her, him.

He wrapped his arms around her and I wanted more than anything to stand and take her back. His smile now appeared. It wasn't that sweet, innocent one of Irina's, but a vicious smile. Like that of a demon challenging me to recite some meaningless Bible verses. She started to struggle as he held her tighter. I opened my mouth to scream but no sound came out. I just watched in horror as he squeezed every breath of life from her bones. Like a snake around its prey.

I jolted awake, the sky still dark outside of the window. I was covered in sweat, and the window unit pumping out AC didn't make it any better.

I sighed and glanced around feeling for the body beside me. She was alright, sound asleep, but what about Irina?

I rested back against the pillow taking in an unfamiliar feminine scent.

Every moment before my eyes closed, I pondered her scent and how even now, I couldn't remember it.

Irina

"Come on and get in the damn car Violet!" Penelope screeched from the passenger seat. Violet pulled the door shut, her large duffle bag hanging off her arm.

"We're only staying for two days not an eternity." Penelope said as she threw her bag into the back and climbed into Alex's truck.

Alex fastened the plastic tubs that held our camping gear with bungee cords and I got into the car. The drive was long. I was sitting between Violet and more crap that couldn't go in the back.

If it had been the younger, more innocent Irina, she would have loved to have sat right next to the food and snacks. But since he left I had been attending a one person Pro-Ana party for myself.

Violet was listening to music and looking him up. I rolled my eyes and looked towards the food. I plugged in my headphones and watched as the crowded roads turned into an endless expanse of interstate.

Halfway through our expedition, it was about noon. We got out and stretched at a rest stop a few miles away from the state line. I ran to the bathroom, and when I returned, everyone was getting ready to get back into the truck.

"Oh my God!" I jumped as Violet ran over to me. "Is this you!?" She shoved her phone into my face and I had to pull it away to see it. It was the picture of us at the ice rink.

The caption talked about good times and throwback. He posted it.

"Uh-I-uh yes." I stuttered and mentally cursed him to hell. What the fuck was his problem?

"I can't believe you didn't tell me you had met him!?" she snapped, pulling the phone away. "Yeah I ran into him when I was in Scranton with my father." I supplied quickly, hoping that she would believe me.
