"My heart breaks inside and 'cause there's no one else around. I'm lost in heartache, and I don't wanna be found. No...Please tell me why you had to go, andnd leave me out here all alone." I Miss You by Arlaner
Irina
I was walking and I was cold. I dragged my bare fingers over a wall of ice that rested to my left. I looked up and Chris was standing at a few feet ahead of me. I rushed forward seizing him in a hug. He smelled just as he always did, a crisp scent mixed with something I could never place. I gasped as I felt his arms tightened around me.
"Irina, listen to me." He drew me back, squaring my shoulders.
"Irina, you need to fight, harder than you ever have." "I will." I replied, nodding. A deafening sound rang about the cavern and Chris quickly glanced behind his shoulder.
"He's coming now. You need to fight. The fireplace. Use the fireplace." "Wait, Chris-." "Irina."
My eyes flipped open as Will's voice rang throughout the small room.
It was chilly in here, I could feel a slight draft, it's source unknown to me.
"It's time for dinner." I rolled over and met his expectant eyes. He tried to help me as I stood and made my way towards the stairs.
Once we were downstairs, the house took on a much warmer feeling. Lance placed a bowl on the table and averted my eyes as I took the next available seat. Gain their trust. My mind reminded me.
I mulled over my dream as Will reappeared, a beer bottle in hand. "You must be hungry." he said, placing some chicken and beans on my plate. Once he was finished, he gave me a look.
"Aren't you going to eat too?" I asked softly. "Yes, but you have to first." He gave me a sly smile.
Panic tried to fight it's way into my mind as ideas of different poisons flashed over my mind. "Eat. Now." Lance sat with his fists balled up next to his plate. "I said eat!" Will shrieked.
We both jumped and I took a chance on my own life and shoveled a forkful of potatoes and beans into my mouth.
They were good, any poison I couldn't taste, but they were dry. I swallowed hard and went for water before I was taken over by a coughing fit. Will barked out a laugh and then dug into the food. I let out a sigh of relief and placed another forkful of food into my mouth.
"Lance, would you like to show Irina what you showed me today?" I snuck a glance at Lance. He looked tense, his eyes glaring at his brother. He reached into his pocket and flung a paper onto the ragged tabletop.
I reached out and seized it. It was a picture of our front porch. I recognized the bird thermometer I had bought for Penelope when I first moved in. Will's finger rested on the corner. I lifted my eyes to the window and inside you could just make out two figures-hugging.
"Looks like they've moved on. Didn't take long did it?" He smirked and I fought back every urge to take my fork and jab it through his eye...even though Chris usually had to help me with Capri Suns...but I bet I could do it. I was mad enough.
After dinner, I was escorted back up to my room by Lance.
"Irina," he started as soon as I was in the room. I took the passive opportunity shut the door. The lock clicked into place and my heart fell. I sighed and turned to the room.
