Hey guys! Sorry for the delay school is killing me right now. Here's the new chapter! Enjoy!
"'Cause I've been searching in my head, for the words I thought she'd said. For too long." Sleeping With the Light On by Busted
Chris
Irina was standing. She was safe, she was okay. She smiled at me and then started away.
I reached out, trying to pull her back to me. I watched as she stepped into a darkened box. A long black hand slowly shut the lid and peeked its long white face out from behind it.
Slowly the box fell back and into the ground, the white faced demon with sharp rows of teeth cackling. I awoke to the front door slamming shut. In a panic, I bolted upright, my heart racing.
"Chris! I came as soon as I got your message!" Penelope looked flustered, her hair frizzed and her bags handing off her arms like the guy from A Christmas Carol.
"I called the police, and they have filed her as a missing person." I said, rubbing my eyes. Penelope just stood there, staring at me.
"I'm so sorry." I mumbled, tears fighting to escape. I heard her move as she sat down next to me.
"We're gonna find her. Irina is a smart girl...Until then, we need to let everyone know what's going on." she said, pulling out her phone. I retrieved mine and called Irina again. Her cell just kept going to voicemail.
I tossed the phone across the room and buried my head in my hands.
Irina
Chris stared at me, his arms tightly at his sides. I wanted to show him the new trick I learned. Stepping back I prepared to perform, but instead I was snatched back.
My back hit something hard as my world was plunged into darkness. Cackling filled my ears as blood pooled around my head; make it stop.
I was blinded by a bright light. Two people moved around me, wearing blue. My eyes focused and pain radiated all over my body.
"Hand me the scalpel." The first person took an instrument from a blue, gloved hand and I felt pain. It wasn't excruitiating, just tugging. I was unable to move but I could see and hear everything.
"Are you sure this is going to work?" A voice asked. "Just trust me."
More tugging happened as the person asked for different tools. I moved my eyes just the tiniest bit to the right, but couldn't see anything. My head was then tilted to the other side and I saw a mirror.
In it I could see a tall figure with its back turned to the mirror. My mind finally connected it to Will and wait...was that my body? I wanted to jerk away, but I couldn't.
My middle was open and from what I could see on the second figure's blue shirt, a lot of blood was gone.
"Alright, she's all done." I heard one grunt and then I was being moved.
I couldn't take in my surroundings as my hair fell over my face, much less of it I thought, but I was pretty sure I was on something.
The lock clicked back into place as I rested on the floor. They hadn't even bothered to put me on the cot...or even a damn blanket. I shivered against the dank floor as my head started to spin.
In and out like a swinging lightbulb. Dark. Light. Dark. Light...and then him. I could see Chris.
He was smiling on the sand, his hand running through his hair.
I let that though lull me to sleep as lighting illuminated the dark, chilly room. He was here, that's all that mattered.
