"I'm strong on the surface, not all the way through. I've never been perfect, but neither have you." -Leave Out All the Rest by Linkin Park
"Irina! Wake up!" I bolted upright and smacked my head on something hard. "Oh shit. You okay?" I open my eyes to Ricky who was struggling to pull on his shoes."It happens to me all the time." he said reassuringly as I rubbed my head.
"Why is everyone talking?" I asked, my head aching terribly as someone bustled around the front of the bus.
"That really creepy chick with you guys, she's missing." "What!?" In my still-drunk stupor, I tumbled out of the tour bus bed and luckily Ricky caught me.
"Be careful, Lil Red." he mumbled, standing me up. I walked out to see that the sun was just about to rise...I think. It was pretty cloudy out here. Penelope came running from our campsite, her eyes wild.
"Irina, she's gone. Violet is gone!" I stumbled down the stairs and ran over to her. "What do you mean?" "She's not in the tent. She's not in the bus." Her eyes were red and puffy, her hair a mess.
All of the alcohol I had consumed was now occupying my bladder, threatening to burst at any moment, but I pushed the nagging feeling away.
"Are you sure she's not peeing somewhere?" I asked. She gave me a look. I sighed.
"Okay, go get the flashlights and we will go look." I said as Lance appeared out of the woods. He started over to me but I shook my head. He could tell I was angry.
"No! I'm not going! Just come on back to bed!" I turned to see Chris and Lizzy. She was dressed in one of his T-shirts and her underwear. Fucking lovely.
"Babe come on, she could be hurt."
"Fuck her! I'm tired of you acting like this!"
"What? Like a concerned, caring human being. Cuz that's a lot less than you are!" I snapped. Her eyes burned though me.
"Fuck you." "Nah I'm good, but I'm going to go do the right thing. Sleep tight bitch." I started off and to my dismay heard Chris following me. I joined the group and we all took off in different directions.
"Listen Irina." I turned to my left to see Lance. His face was swollen a bit but he still looked handsome. "I'm sorry, you know how I get when I drink." I rolled my eyes and continued on, now stuck with Lance and Chris following me.
We called her name and by the time we had made it to Mary's house, it was a chilly cloudy morning. We started to near a large building at the end of the road.
"Irina, will you please forgive me?" I sighed and looked at him. He was trying. I nodded. "Wait you're just gonna forgive him just like that? For almost raping you!?" I glared at Chris.
"I wasn't trying to rape her!" Lance shot back. "Oh yeah, looked like that from my point of view." "So you're the one who hit me." They started staring each other down. Lance was only six foot one so Chris had a couple inches on him.
"I'm gonna kick you're a-" "Shut the fuck up!" I snapped. They both looked at me. "Listen, I'm gonna go pee, you guys wait here."
"Fuck that." Chris said, looking at me. "Yeah you can't go in there alone." Lance agreed.
I held my hand up at him and turned back to the woods. "Just wait here."
After a few yards, I undid my shorts and crouched. That was the greatest feeling of relief. Just as I was about to start away, a gasp sounded. It was low: sounding almost like someone was crying. I turned and walked a few more yards and found a figure lying on the ground.
"Violet! What the fuck is wrong with you!?" I snapped as I pulled her up. She wiped her eyes.
"I woke up out here. I thought I was going to die!" she wailed. "Shut up." I snapped as her crying soon subsided.
"Now come on let's get out of here and go home." I turned as a sudden wave of dizziness hit me. Which way had I come? A branch snapped and Violet jumped, bumping into me.
"What was that?" she asked quickly. I could feel her shivering.
"Probably an animal, now come on." I started back towards where I thought I had come only to be stopped dead in my tracks by a figure. He was blonde haired and blue eyed, those sad eyes meeting mine. He was Will.
"Violet." I started reaching back to grab her. "What? What's wrong?" she asked worriedly.
"Violet we need to find the guys now." I said as Will smiled at me.
"Where did you come from? And why are you staring at that tree?" she asked, tugging on my arm. I froze. She didn't see him yet. My heart was beating in my chest as he disappeared and the reappeared right in front of my eyes.
"Rina." he purred. I took off, throwing Violet's safety to the wolves as I tripped over fall branches and tree trunks.
"C-Chris!" I screamed as I tripped and landed face first in the mud. I could hear the rushed footsteps he was right behind me.
"Chris!" I screamed as I pulled myself up and kept running. This had to be a dream. This couldn't be real. "Chris!"
I broke the tree line and fell face first onto the road. Warm liquid dribbled down my chin as I backed away on my back from the trees. "Irina!"
About twenty feet down the road, Chris, Lance and Violet stood. Chris ran towards me, Lance and Violet following in his wake.
"Are you hurt?" he asked in a breathy voice as he knelt down. Rain had started to fall as he helped me up.
"We need to get them back to the bus." "I got it." Lance said, walking over to me.
"Get Violet, and I'll help Irina." Chris said sternly, tightening his grip around my waist. I gave Lance and pleading look and he shook his head before helping Violet. We ran into Penelope and the guys further up the road who attacked Violet in a bone crushing hug.
"We need to leave." I said, my breath becoming short. She nodded. "Let's pack up and leave." Penelope instructed Alex.
"I need to get out of here." I whispered as we walked back to the campsite. Once we had packed up almost all of our stuff, Chris walked with me to the truck, carrying my bag.
"What's going on?" Lizzy appeared, looking flustered and finally fully clothed.
"You guys look like shit." I threw her an exhausted glare as Chris helped me into Alex's truck. Violet curled up on the backseat, her head slouching against the window. I pushed the button and the window rolled down."You're gonna be okay." he said softly, his hand on my arm that hung out the window. I could see the guys helping them break down camp.
"Thanks for the reassurance." I snapped tiredly. He shook his head and glanced at Lance who was also helping.
"Please, be careful." He gently squeezed my arm and I bit back a wave of pain.
I watched him walk away, tears streaming down my face.
