"I paced around for hours, on empty. I jumped at the slightest of sounds. And I couldn't stand the person inside me. I turned all the mirrors around." Control by Halsey

Thursday night I sat quietly in front of the TV, everyone else at the table eating. My stomach had hurt for the past day so eating for me was definitely out of the question. For once I was actually bummed. Penelope had made her spaghetti (one of my favorites).

"Oh Irina, it's six o'clock, can you turn on the news?" I grabbed the remote and flipped the channels.

The first few minutes were just boring stuff and I was just getting ready to go upstairs when I stopped cold in my tracks.

"This just in: a convict from the Portsmouth Prison has escaped and is currently being hunted down. His name is William J. Hart III. William is currently serving 10 years in prison for the kidnapping and attempted murder of his ex-girlfriend and is considered dangerous. If you see him or know any information, notify the police and stay indoors."

Penelope met my eyes. She opened her mouth to speak but couldn't. "What's her problem?" Violet asked, looking at Penelope.

I bolted up the stairs and slammed my door. I threw my fist straight into the plaster wall and cursed as blood pooled at my knuckles. There was a knock at the door.

"Irina?" I took my jewelry box and threw it across the room just as Penelope appeared. "Holy shit, calm down." I fumed in the corner, digging my nails into my skull.

"Hey, hey, come here." Penelope was in dangerous territory, but she somehow always knew how to calm me. She walked over and pulled me into her arms.

I started crying as she pulled me down to sit on the bed. She was the only one who really knew what had happened. She didn't want to let on that she knew about Chris, just to protect my privacy. She moved for a moment and retrieved her phone from her back pocket. She handed it to me.

"You need to call him and let him know." I shook my head, tears falling.

"Irina. You have to let him know." she repeated sternly. I exhaled deeply and took the phone from her. Quietly I tapped his name and put my ear to it. It rang for about a minute until someone picked up.

"H-Hello?" There was someone's voice in the background, but I was too concerned to care.

"Uh, yeah is this Chris?" "Yeah." "It's me, Irina." I said plainly. Penelope scrunched up her nose at me.

"Oh hey...are you okay?" he asked quickly. "Um, yes and no." Silence fell over the line.

"It's Will, he escaped prison." "What!?" "Yeah, but I don't know where he is, but he is out."

"Okay, the guys and I will get ready, we will be there by tomorrow night."

"What?" A female voice broke through the line. "Shut up." Chris mumbled.

"Look the only reason I called is because of Penelope." "Okay, well I'll be there as soon as I can. I l-." My heart dropped as he stopped mid-word.

"Goodbye." I hung up and handed her the phone.

"Come on lay down." Penelope sat by me as I placed my head on my pillow. She brushed my hair out of my tear-drenched eyes.

"Will you stay with me?" Penelope smiled. "Of course."
