"Our days are numbered, in a world of fools. We feel the hunger and follow no one's rules." Days Are Numbered by Black Veil Brides
Being at home proved to be an even bigger dilemma now that I had failed at ending my life. I was never allowed to be alone...ever.
Violet had gotten chewed out for leaving me and it made her hate meter grow even bigger than before.
I had gotten a text from Lance, still trying to apologize for hurting my-I mean Chris-and asking for my forgiveness. So far nada.
About a week later, Penelope had to go for an interview to New York, taking her for three days. Alex was going to visit a "friend" in Western Virginia and Violet was off to Baltimore for some concert, leaving me the sluggish weirdo at home. I walked Penelope to the door.
"I'll be fine." I assured. I pulled open the door and jumped. There he was, eyebrows painted on like usual. It was an overcast day with a light breeze that rustled his hair.
"Hey." I immediately averted my eyes to Penelope. "Did you really think I was going to leave you alone?" she asked in a sing song voice. I groaned and ran back upstairs.
From my sitting position on the top step I could hear Penelope rustle some papers and then speak. "Thanks so much. I'll be back as soon as I can." "Don't rush. We'll be fine here." I planted my fist into the wall as soon as the door shut.
The floorboards creaked as Chris moved towards the stairs. He climbed the two steps and came to the landing.
"I don't need you to watch me." I snapped, rested my head on my arms. "Look I'm just here to make sure you are safe." he said, raising his hands. I sighed loudly.
"Why do you even care? And what about Lizzy what does she think of all of this?" I asked, standing up. "She doesn't care." I burst out into snide laughter. "I highly doubt that...you know what Chris just leave me alone." I said, stomping towards my room.
My knuckles ached violently from my outburst as I threw myself onto my bed. The wind blew the white curtains on my window softly. I watched their erythematic breaths as I slowly started to drift off.
There was a soft knock at the door.
I opened my eyes quickly, jumping at the noise. I glanced outside at the dark gray clouds that were producing rain. I flipped on the light as the knock sounded again.
"Irina, you need to take your medicine." I sat up and pushed my hair from my face. I had started to smooth it, but then I remembered that it wasn't him I was supposed to look pretty for.
"Here." He stood right beside the bed, his long tattooed fingers grasping the glass with clear liquid and the pills. I took them without a fight and swallowed some water.
"How are you feeling?" I choked a little bit on the water. He reached out to pat my back but I wiggled away.
"You care?" I asked when I had finally caught my breath. "Yes of course I care." I shook my head. "Look I can tell its bugging you." he said. "What?" "Will." he replied. "What more can he do to me?" Chris's brows furrowed as I placed the glass on the night table.
"Don't say that. He can do a lot of things...things I won't let him do." "Oh would you cut that out already!?" I stood up and turned to him. "What?" "Acting like you're so bad and strong. And like you're gonna protect me!"
