"Ashes, ashes, time to go down. Ooh, honey, do you want me now? Can't take it anymore, need to put you to bed. Sing you a lullaby where you die at the end." Milk and Cookies by Melanie Martinez

Chris

"Do you think it could've been her?" Josh asked, glancing at me. We all stood around the kitchen island, staring at my cell phone.

"What kind of question is that? You were at her funeral." I said darkly. "The never found her body." Ricky said quietly. All of our eyes fell on him. "Why would you say that?"

"Chris, look all of us wanna believe more than anything that she is alive." Ryan said, pushing his hand into my chest. I sighed and lurched away from him.

"Do you think it's Will?" I looked at Devin. "He wouldn't be stupid enough...would he?" Ryan said, looking at me.

"She said something to me." "Like what?" Ricky asked, inclining his head. I shook my head.

"Remember that night we tag teamed Allie and her in the snow? I got sick-and well she sang to me...Asleep by the Smiths." They all looked at me, puzzled.

"I never shared that with anyone. It was a thing between us...that she had made me better." Silence blanketed the room.

"Then it's her, it has to be." Vinny said. He was so new to all of this, and I hated bringing him into it. I grabbed the phone and studied the number.

"I've seen this number before." I dialed Penelope.

After a few rings, her sleepy voice greeted me. "Hello?" I smiled at the familiarity.

"Hey Penelope, it's Chris." "Oh, hey, what's going on? Is Ricky alright?" I could hear her shift. "Yeah he's just fine. Sorry to wake you. I just wanted to know if you still had Lance's number?"

I drummed my fingers on the counter and waited. She listed off the number.

"Is everything okay?" "Yeah, um thanks. I'll call you tomorrow." I hung up the phone and checked the number. Sure enough, they matched.

"It's Lance. I knew that bastard was lying to me. Goddamit." I scrubbed a hand down my face. "What do we have to do?" Vinny looked at me.

The guys joined in, anxious to know how they could help. These were my family away from family. My brothers. They would do anything for me and Irina too. I nodded.

"We need to find out where this number is located." "How do we do that?" "I have an idea."

Irina

My arm ached, terribly. The pain traveled along my inner arm, climbing into my shoulder as I came to.

Mold, I could smell mold.

It was a wet, overpowering stench that choked me. I coughed a few times, my lungs begging for better air.

"Did you sleep well?" I jumped and looked to see Will, sitting at a workbench. A small light sat behind him, giving his body an eerie glow.

"W-What happened to me?" I croaked. In the line of light, I could see blood all over my legs.

"You got out." he said, clapping a few times.

"I must say, good work. Your resilience gets an A fucking Plus!" He gave me a wicked smile as I tried to sit up against the wall.

"That chimney was fucking genius. And waiting until the idiot was passed out drunk...you should've seen his face when I got home. 'Huh? She's not up there?' You gave me a good laugh."
