I watched anxiously as the doctor examined Margarette, who until now is still lying unconscious in the hospital bed. There are so many questions going around my head that I'm dying to ask why she suddenly fainted, but I bit my tongue to keep myself from interrupting the doctor.
I saw him checking her heartbeat, her pulse and her blood pressure while I waited impatiently at the foot of the bed. Pagkalipas ng ilang minuto, just when I almost ran out of my patience, the doctor removed the earpiece of stethoscope from his ear and glanced at me.
"Are you Doctor Margarette's friend?" the doctor asked me.
Natigilan ako.
What should I say?
If I tell him the truth, that I'm only here to return her lost cellphone, siguradong hindi niya ako papayagan na magtagal sa tabi nito and will ask me to leave.
"Yes, I'm her friend." pagsisinungaling ko. "What's wrong with Margarette, Doc?"
"I didn't find anything wrong with Doctor Marg, everything is normal. She might be stressed and tired that's why she fainted. She only need rest and she'll be okay."
I felt relieve sa narinig ko that I let out a long deep breath I did not notice I'm been holding.
"Are you going to stay until she wakes up?" the doctor inquired to me.
I nodded my head. "I'm staying." walang pag alinlangan na sagot ko.
"I'll send someone to bring her food and just make sure she eats her dinner."
I looked around. The inflatable hospital is full, sampung hospital bed ang kasya dito and Margarette occupied the farthest out.
I saw them staring at me.
I noticed a tiny little bumps on her arms that I removed my jacket and cover her upper body to keep her warm.
For a long time, I just sat there, gazing at her face contentedly like a love sick fool. Her chest moved up and down in rhythm with her breathing, nakahinga ako ng maluwag na kahit paano, unti-unti nang bumabalik ang kulay sa pisngi niya.
She shifted that a strand of het blond hair fell on her face, hiding her angelic beauty from me. Marahan kong hinawi ang ilang hibla ng buhok na napupunta sa mukha nito at inipit sa likod ng tenga niya, accidentally touched her cheek in the process.
