I wanna thank one of my best friends Sierra Tilley who gave me the awesome idea for this chapter. Go check out her stories. They're the greatest.
Jason's pov
I get off duty and pull my cap down low. I've been playing with Luke and people are starting to call my name in public. I guess it's a good thing but it's kind of hard to do daily stuff. I don't know how Luke puts up with it all the time. I pass by Chief on the way out. "We just wanna say congratulations from everyone here on the force. Wait, are they talking about the singing or the fact that I'm gonna propose to my woman soon. "Thanks sir. I'm just happy we finally caught that annoying robber who jacked my cruiser." I reply, jokingly. But I'm serious. That woman caused some serious problems between us. She thought for a second I had a thing for her.
~flashback~
She picks Sierra up prepared to leave. "I promise I don't like her!" I cry, desperately. "Then why are you so intent on catching her? So you guys can make out in the back of your cop car?!" I'm a little shocked and disturbed that she'd think these things. "No way! Because I wanna have the satisfaction of putting that bitch behind bars. I can't stand her for what she did. Honey I promise you. I don't love her." I cross the room where she's crying at the front door. "I love you. Please don't go. You and Sierra are the only two people I care about." I rest a shaky hand on her cheek and kiss her with all my might. "I'll love you forever." I whisper. "You mean it?" "Of course I do, sweet girl. You're my whole world." She bursts into tears and hugs me. I wrap my arms around her, intertwining our fingers.
~flashback over~
I shake away the memory and get in my car heading for home. "Honey, I'm home!" I call. "In the kitchen!" She calls back. I walk into the kitchen and bust out laughing. The room is covered in flour and sugar. "What have you guys been up to all day?" I ask. She smiles. "Trying to make cookies. But this little rascal keeps pushing over the ingredients." She says, giggling and eyeing her rambunctious four year old. Soon she will be ours. I walk over and pick her up. "Now who's gonna clean this mess up?" I ask. They both point to me. I roll my eyes and laugh. "Okay scamp run along and play. I'm gonna talk to your mama about something." I set her down and she runs to her room, still covered in flour. "You know she's gonna get flour all over everything?" She says. "Hey we already have to clean one room. And it's about time we cleaned hers too." I reply shrugging and leaning against the counter. I'm still in my police uniform and I just got flour on my ass. I shrug it off and walk over to her and kiss her passionately. "Baby girl, I wanna sign adoption forms for Sierra. I wanna be her dad for real."
Miranda's pov
I never saw this coming. "Oh my goodness! Jason, you really mean it?!" I gasp, fighting the urge to cry. "Yeah I do. I love you and I love that little girl. So what do ya say?" "I'd say let's do this thing." He smiles real big and kisses me again.
Jason's pov
"Now you go get washed up and will go do it now." She races from the room and I call Luke to clean the kitchen for me. Luckily he'd be happy to. After they're ready, we go to the court house. She laces her fingers with mine and shoots me the happiest smile I've ever seen on that beautiful woman's face. I smile back and kiss her cheek. "Oh you still have flower on you darlin'." "Oh really?" She gasps, surprised reaching for her cheek. I smile and pull her hand down then I put a daisy behind her ear. She loves daisies. They're her favorite flower. Just then they call us in with the forms to sign. I smile and pick up the pen. I can't wait to do this and officially make Sierra my daughter. I fill them all out and pick up my little girl. "We're gonna have a lot of fun. I've got another surprise for your mama." I whisper it in her ear and Miranda watches us wanting to know our little secret. I laugh and pat her head. "You'll know soon sweetheart." I say, kissing her head and putting Sierra over my shoulder, making her laugh hysterically.
*a couple weeks later*
This is the perfect time. We're at Luke's album release party. I feel the ring box in my pocket. Rich is letting Sierra play his drums. I nod to her and she jumps up excited, knowing what I mean. She rushes over and I scoop her up. I call for my wonderful perfect gal. She walks over. I take her by the hand. "Baby girl, Two years ago, I saw a lonely girl and her daughter sitting on a park bench. I brought them home, saved them how the people down at the station calls it but they're wrong. Those two girls who I love with everything I've got were actually the ones who saved me." I've quit the force and thrown my whole work into singing. I bought us a little farm right outside the wonderful town of Nashville and I've already been signed to a record company. Broken bow records. "If you can be my tan legged Juliet, I'll be your redneck Romeo. Basically baby," I hand the ring to Sierra and she hands it to Miranda. "Will you make me the happiest cowboy in this place by marrying me?" Tears fill her eyes and mine. "I love you Jason. I'm so excited. I can't wait for us to get married." "You'll always be my number one baby girl." I say, kissing her happily. "Hey?" Sierra whines her tiny hands on her even tinier hips. I laugh. "And you'll always be my baby girl. I don't care if you're 80. You'll always be my baby." I tell her. She smiles and hugs my neck as Miranda hugs me. "And you'll always be my daddy." Sierra says, making me so happy. Everyone cheers and Luke walks over, pats me on the back, and says, "My boy is now a man!" I laugh and kiss my fiancé again. I don't care if I'm 80, she'll always be my baby too.
