Julie's POV
Don't have your rent and it's the first of the month (Where's my money)
Your bank account has got insufficient funds

My mom came into my room, walking hesitantly inside.

"Yes?" I asked her expectantly.

"You...you have a friend here to visit."

I was confused. I still had friends in New York? They didn't all think I was super famous or hate me now? Who could possibly still remember me as their friend?

Then I saw her.

"Julie!" She screamed, tackling me in a hug.

"Anna!" I screamed back.

She smiled widely at me. "It's been so long! Where have you been?" She asked me, getting off of me and sitting down on the bed next to me.

"California. I went to a YouTube school. I'm kind of a YouTuber now." I told her, messing with my bracelets.

Her eyes widened. "Wait a second, I have seen you on YouTube. You're Gem Julie! I love your videos!" She exclaimed, suddenly getting really shaky and nervous.

I laughed awkwardly. "Uh, thanks, but you don't have to treat me like royalty. I'm still just Julie, Anna. We're still childhood friends."

She bounced up and down on the bed, tears forming. "Yeah, but, you're like, one of my favorite YouTubers. I can't believe I didn't recognize you sooner. I'm best friends with Gem Julie! Oh my god, this is amazing!" Anna grabbed my hands and started bouncing me with her on the bed.

I signed and let go of her hands. "Anna, please, don't treat me like some celebrity. I'm still just a normal human being."

She finally calmed down. "Okay, Julie. You're right. This is ridiculous of me."

I smiled at her. "So, what's happened since I was gone?"

She suddenly got very quiet. "Um, not much. I kind of dropped out of college to pursue a career on YouTube, like you. When that didn't work, I pursued a career in writing. I wrote a novel, and it's out in stores, and it isn't doing very well. I'm also running a blog, and that isn't contributing any money either. My mom kicked me out of the house because I don't have the money to pay her rent. Now I'm kind of stuck on the streets."

I gasped.

I was gone a year and now Anna is homeless?

"I was wondering if I could stay with you?" She asked hopefully.

I stared at her, pitifully. Anna was one of my good friends, and I didn't want to leave her for dead. But I was planning on renting myself an apartment. Maybe I could make room for a roommate.

"Fine. I'm renting an apartment soon, so you can be my roommate. YouTube pays me fairly well, so I should be able to cover your half of the rent until you get a job and are able to pay yourself. But you will get a job, understand? You aren't living off me forever."

Anna nodded eagerly and wrapped me in a tight hug.

"Oh, thank you! You don't understand what a great friend you are!"

Yeah, "friend." I thought.
