Mira's POV
Laxus is lying down beside me in a log position with his eyes half open, clearly forcing himself to stay awake. Whenever I open my eyes, I would meet his gaze, and it makes me feel secured just knowing that Laxus is around me even though I probably shouldn't...
"Stop staring and get some sleep." Laxus forces himself to speak.
"You should too. I'm not going anywhere, Laxus... "
"Yeah right," Laxus scowls, "and you will turn demon on me or stab me in the neck with my own dagger once I fall asleep. Dream on, princess." He rolls facing to the other side, giving me an eye-feastful of his muscular back and booty.
Dagger? Oh, that's right. There is indeed a heavy and pointy object inside the pocket of his cloak, and that has to be a dagger. Somehow, it hurts that Laxus doesn't trust me...
"Alright, then." I roll around to the other side and closes my eyes. "Good night, Laxus."
"..."
Sister, Why!? Why did you kill me!?
Why!? Why did you let me die!?
Elfman? Lisanna? No, I didn't! It wasn't my fault!
It should've been you...
You should be the one who's supposed to be death!
"I'll grant you a slow and painful death!" Freed comes out from the shadow and chokes me up in the air.
No! Stop! This isn't real!
"..." I wake up huffing and sweating all over again. I sit up, bury my face between my knees, and tighten my arms around myself. My whole body is weak and shaking non-stop from both the fear and fever. I don't wanna... continue living on like this any longer...
Above all, I'm most terrified of Freed. I would rather die right now then having to fall into his hands. "but Laxus," I say softy and look to the person beside me, "he would never let me-"
*Snorings*
Eh? Hold on a sec... did he fall asleep!? I poke his cheeks to make sure and there is no response. Oh how cute... he may be big, but he sure do sleep like a baby...
"What's this?" There's a sharp object on the grass.
Apparently, Laxus' dagger had fallen off the cloak. As I pick it up in my hand, negative thought quickly surges through my mind. If I really wanted release from my miserable life, then this would be the only chance to do it... but what about Laxus?
I turn to look at the sleeping man and whisper, "Laxus, thank you for this short, yet precious time. I can't tell you how happy I was that you were willing to listen to my story. Thanks to you, I will not have any regret. This is goodbye, Laxus..."
I spread the cloak on top of Laxus to keep him warm and give him a soft peck on the cheek, amazed that he is still fast asleep. I then slowly walk away toward the river, but decide to turn around and have one last look at Laxus. "Thanks for everything, Laxus. I will miss you..."
I stare at my own reflection beside the small river that runs throughout the open field. Looking up at the starry sky, I pray and wish that I may be reunited with Lisanna, Elfman, and my parents in the afterlife.
