All this time, it's been my mom in my head.
Ding ding ding!
I shake off the thoughts as I step out of the shower, running a brush through my hair. I wrap my towel around my chest and ring out my hair in the sink.
I look up and see my mom in the mirror, scars across her head and face. She tilts her head and stares into my eyes.
"This is all your fault."
I begin growling a bit under my breath and punch the mirror with my fist, my mother disappearing. Blood runs down my knuckles, chards of glass fall to the ground. I quickly sit down, not wanting to pass out.
I wipe my hand with the rag I had cleaned Liam up with. I begin crying just a little bit, the blood soaking the rag. I reach for the bandages but someone grabs them before me.
It was Liam.
"Liam, what the hell?"
"I heard you."
"All the way from your house?"
"Yes. I have a sharp sense of hearing. I heard you scream. What happened?"
"All I can see is my mom, everywhere and in everything."
"Oh. Let me help you."
"No, you go out. Have fun. I'm okay."
"You hurt yourself pretty bad. You'll heal but you might want to bandage it first."
He hands me the bandages and I smile lightly at him."I can't move my hands at the moment." I hold my towel up, so nothing accidentally falls out.
"I can handle it." He takes back the bandages and wraps them around my hand, making the blood rush stop.
"Now you go. Hayden is waiting for you."
"Just call if you need something, okay?"
"I'm going out too, Liam. I'll leave you alone."
"Okay. I'll see you later."
"Thank you."
"Anytime."He walks out and I shut the door, letting the towel fall to the ground. I try not to stare at myself in the mirror, scars and cuts cover me from my past.
They'll heal...hopefully.
I dry my hair with the hair drier and let the hot air sting my scalp. I bring a hairbrush through my hair, feeling soft and warm.
I walk out of the bathroom into my cool bedroom, shutting my bedroom door.
No one is even here to look at your sorry ass.
I walk over to my closet and look around. Did Theo want casual or formal?
I just decide to do both and grab a short black dress that stopped at my knee caps. I dig through my old junky shoes and find my black converse, still kind of muddy from my first date with Theo. I slip them on over my feet and tie them nicely.
I see the clock read 7:30, I had fifteen minutes. I walk into my moms room, seeing everything perfectly in place like always.
It will stay that way.
I walk over to her makeup table and sit down, looking through all her jewelry. I see the necklace that dad had given to her for their anniversary. I could remember that day like it just happened yesterday. It was beautiful. It had a blue amulet on the end of it that sparkled bright. I pull my hair up and clip it behind my neck.
I look at myself in the mirror and smile, the necklace was so beautiful.
It looks way better on me.
I hear a knock on the front door and walk to it, opening it wide. I see Theo with a nice dress shirt and jeans.
"You look beautiful as always, Kell."
"I'd have to say the same for you, Theo." I smile at him and wrap my arms around his neck for a moment.
