I stare at my dinner plate blankly, moving the leftovers around with my fork. I look up at my mom, seeing her not eating either. Rather than saying something, I take my plate to the garbage and throw it away.
"Do you want to go get something out to eat? I'm sorry I haven't been home these past weeks. I bet they have been hard."
"Yeah that sounds good. Pasta?"
"Sure, let's go."
My mom grabs her purse and her keys and we head out the door to her new gray car. She starts it up as I put on my seat belt. We pull out and I turn the radio on.
"Oh my gosh! This is our favorite song! Remember mom?"
She hums along to the tune, nodding. She looks over to me for a slight second, smiling.
"I have such a strong, beautiful daughter."
I smile and look back to the road, seeing a truck coming right towards us.
"Mom! Watch-"
I felt pain strike me everywhere, my body jerking forward. I suddenly see I'm upside down and try to nudge out of my seatbelt. It breaks and I hit my head on the top of the car.
"Mom? Mom!" The airbag had gone off in her face and blood was everywhere.
I move to my door and try to open it, but it was nudged up against something. I kick the door once and the glass breaks a bit. I growl and pound harder against it, sending all the glass to the ground.
I get out of the window and scratch my shoulder, blood comes out. I stand up, sending bright light into my eyes. I wave at the man that hit us, he was freaking out.
"Call the ambulance." I fall to the ground, blacking out.
"Kelli, hey." I open my eyes slowly, seeing a distorted figure in front of me.
"Theo?"
"No, it's Scott. He'll be here shortly."
"Oh my god." I open my eyes and see I'm in a hospital bed, with an IV in my wrist.
"Scott, where's my mom?"
"She's not here right now." He grabs my hand for a second before Theo walks in.
"Oh my god, Kelli. I'm sorry I couldn't get here faster."
"No, no. It's okay. I'm just glad you are now." He grabs my hand, holding it tightly.
"What happened?" I touch my head, feeling pain.
"You got into a car accident with your mom. You kicked the window open and told the man that hit you to call the ambulance and you passed out. You are pretty brave." Scott smiles.
"Sounds like you are." Theo smiles also.
"It hurts." I bite down on my lip, feeling more pain.
"It's going to be okay, Kelli. They gave you some meds."
"Oh my god. I heard about your mom, I'm so sorry." Liam walks in.
"What's wrong with my mom?"
"Oh shit."
"Scott. Is she-"
"I'm so sorry, Kelli."
I slowly let go of Theo's hand, bringing up to my head. I run my fingers through my hair and put both of my hands on my mouth, trying not to let out any weird sounds.
"Kelli, I'm sorry." Theo grabs me and holds me close to him, running his fingers through my hair.
I begin crying, screaming at the world.
"She was the only one I had left."
"You have me, baby. It'll be okay soon."
"I can't do this anymore. Tell them to take me. Take me instead."
"It doesn't work like that."
"Fuck. I haven't even cried like this before. Only at my dads-"
"It's okay. I can stay with you, Kell.""Kelli?!" I hear a small voice behind Theo's and Theo lets go of me and turns around.
I see Liam standing in the doorway, tear lines streaking his face.
"What's wrong?" Theo crosses his arms.
"I thought you were dead." He walks up to my bedside, scanning me.
"I'm perfectly fine, Liam. I'm just glad you're here." I smile, brushing my fingers over his clammy hand.
"Can I talk to you?" Theo pulls Liam out.
I sit up in bed, feeling pain strike up my back. I bite down on my lip, looking down to my IV.
It's slowing you down. You can help yourself.
I close my eyes hard and pull it out, feeling a small stinging sensation in my wrist. I throw it to the ground and lay back, feeling myself get stronger.
That's it. Feel it build up inside you.
I feel something build up inside me and I let out a growl, looking down to my wrist. Nothing was there.
I sit up slowly, closing my eyes. I don't feel anything. I step out of bed and stand up, watching Theo and Liam coming in.
"Kelli! You need to rest!" Theo runs to my side.
"Theo, I'm fine. Look." I pull my shirt down a bit and show him my shoulder, where nothing was wrong.
"You healed." Liam looks amazed.
"You're getting better already." Theo smiles a bit, staring down at Liam.
"Oh my god! Kelli! We came as soon as we could." The girls and Stiles walk in, frowns on their faces.
"Hi guys." I walk over to them, hugging each of them.
"We heard about-"
"Please. I prefer you don't bring her up."
"Understandable. Scott needs our help, we just wanted to make sure you were okay."
"I'm working on it."
"The doctor says you have to stay the night, you are allowed one guest to stay."
"I can." Theo grabs my hand, but takes it back as his phone vibrates.
"I'm so sorry, Kelli. My mom is terribly sick. I have to go. I'll call you. I love you." He kisses my cheek lightly and walks out of the room.
"Great."
"I'll stay with you." Liam stands beside me.
"Really?"
"Of course, you're my best friend."
Stiles smiles at Liam and gives an obvious wink.
"Thank you all for coming. I'll call you guys when I get out tomorrow."
"Okay. Be careful."
I slip into bed, clutching the covers above my chest. I lay on my side, still feeling pain. It was manageable, probably with some pills.
"Do you want to talk?" Liam smiles down at me, taping his fingers on the table next to me.
"About what?"
"The thing you didn't want to talk about."
"No. Please don't bring it up, Liam. I can't be weak."
"It's okay to be weak when you have people by your side. We're here for you. I'm here for you."
He lets his hand slip over mine, brushing his cool fingertips over my knuckles.
"I can't fight. I have no one that loves me anymore, no one that will take care of me."
"We can take care of you. We have your back. Theo loves you, Kelli."
"You do too."
