Bitten by a Beta

I hear bubbles popping around me, my body aching. My eyes open just enough to see what was around me, but in blurry form.

I hear clunking feet coming towards me as I try to move. My vision becomes clear and I see I'm strapped to a table, facing towards the ceiling of the place. Whispers fill my ears as I try to figure out where I am. I could hear yelling around me or screaming.

"Get us out of here!" I hear a familiar voice yelling.

I look up and see a dread coming towards me with a large needle in hand.

"No. Please. Don't. I can't take it." Words come from another mouth, that wasn't mine.

I look over and see Corey, a kid from my school. I think he was a junior. The doctor walks towards him, sticking the needle in his neck. The syringe was full of gray liquid.

"Hey! Stop!" I yell at it, rattling around on the cold table.

"Kelli?" I hear a voice, coming from down the dark hall.

"Help us!" I hear a loud squeaky voice yell from down the dark hall.

"Kelli, it's Liam."

I lay flat on the table, not knowing what I had gotten myself into.

"How the hell did you get here?!"
"The date didn't go as planned. What about you?"
"Same as you guys. Theo isn't here though."
"He probably is, somewhere. Are you alright?"
"I'm fine, Liam. Is Hayden with you?"
"Yes. We're okay too. Hopefully help is on the way."

I scan the room, finding something to get me out. I hear a buzzing and a crash.

"Liam? What was that?"
"Oh my god, Liam?" Hayden says.
"Hayden, talk to me."
"He tried ripping through the barrier and it electrocuted him."
"Find his pulse on his neck, is he breathing?"
"Yeah. It's not beating very fast."
"Just help him out. Lean him against the wall or lay his head in your lap. Tap his cheeks a bit. Yell at him if you need to."
"It sounds like you need to be in here and not me."
"I can't get up right now, Hayden. Just try."
I hear a shuffling around in the room.
"Liam? Hey. Wake up."

I hear a cough and my heart goes back to a normal pulse.

"Never do that again." Hayden lightly whispers.

"Okay."

I hear rattling coming from a corner of the room and see one of the doctors coming towards me this time. Corey was passed out.

"No. Please don't. Liam, help me!"
"Kelli? What's wrong?!"
"The dread- help!"

"I'm coming, Kelli." I hear another voice coming.

I hear the rattling of the electrocution from the barrier fall down and see Theo running in.

Theo growls and knocks the dread off his feet.

"I told you if you touched her, I'd kill you!"

The dread struggles to get up and Theo runs over to me.

"Oh my god. I'm so sorry."
"No, no. It's okay. Is Liam and Hayden okay?"
"Yes. They are out with Scott and the others."

Theo unties my hands and ankles and lifts me into his arms. He was shaking but managed to run with me. I felt really light headed as we got out of the place, it was very unfamiliar.

"Kelli, oh my god." Liam runs over to me as Theo sets me down in the bed of Scott's truck.

Everyone rushes over except Kira.
