I started reading The Perks Of Being A Wallflower and the main character, Charlie writes like a 5-year-old. I think the author intended for people to mention that Charlie didn't have that good of a vocabulary but Charlie is very relatable.
The book is okay at its' best and I feel mean for saying that because it's critically acclaimed, both the book and movie adaptation but I'm being honest.
Josh interrupted me while I was reading the book though.
*Phone rings*
"Josh?"
"Hey, Tyler, you mind coming over?"
"Do I have to?"
"Sort of."
"Okay.. I'll be there in 10 minutes."
I arrived at his house and to let you know, this was 2 days after I got my suit from The Prom Store, so, Homecoming was in 2 days.
I knock on his door, he answers.
"Sorry, I was.. 3 minutes late."
"Nerd." He pulls me into the house.
"What?"
"So.. Ashley isn't what I thought she was." He closes his bedroom door.
"What's wrong with her?"
"Her name isn't even Ashley, for starters."
"What is her name?"
"Debby."
"Debby..?"
"Debby Ryan and like 'Ashley' described, she was supposed to have short, blue hair but I show up to the mall and she has a sort of red hair that's long."
"What's wrong with that?"
"She lied to me."
"Was she cute?"
"Yes, oh my god, she looked wonderful-Was it something you didn't like about her body? I know you're picky about girls' bodies." I interrupt Josh.
"The thing was.. I didn't have to look at her body."
"So, she's fat?"
"No, jeez, Tyler. You are so inconsiderate."
"Thank you?"
"I meant, she was amazing. She was so energetic and nice and empathetic and wonderful-looking but.. When you like someone that has already lied to you, it's tough to really think, 'Can I trust this person?'"
"Josh.. I think you should take a chance on her."
"I want to but she lied to me."
"You should take her to Homecoming."
"Are you kidding?"
"No, for real, if she's beautiful and care free and nice and empathetic, then, shit, take her to Homecoming."
"Did you just-Yes, I just said that word but I am so tired of you complaining." I interrupt.
"You complain all the time, you're a pessimist."
I roll my eyes.
"Look.. I'm sorry but.. Just watch my back and if I ever talk like I'm depressed or like I'm suicidal, take the damn blade from me."
"Okay." He fist bumps me.
I went back to my house and continued reading The Perks Of Being A Wallflower until I was tired.
I feel bad for Josh sometimes but all he can do is see what's in store with Ashley or Halsey or Debby, I get so confused.
