Twelfth Kiss

I stared out the window silently as the car keeps rolling towards school. Penny was busy applying makeup and I continued thinking to myself. One month to break me huh? Does he mean he'll make me forget how it feels falling in love? Maybe it's best I become broken. I won't feel hurt anymore after my last break up. I wonder how many girls he's tried to break before me. Is Rick as cold as I believed he is along with being a heartless man like his family? As I continued staring out the window, Penny tapped my shoulder.

"Hayate...?" Penny asked concerned, "Are you still willing to go with his plan?" I look back at her blankly and nodded slowly. I had no energy to push myself to speak up. I'm starting to regret ever agreeing to dig into the Rice family let alone dig in to find Rick's weakness.

His existence is already his main weakness, but what did happen between him and Juliet. As the car pulls to a stop in front of school, we stepped out and I followed Penny quietly to our lockers. Penny constantly looks back to see if I'm back to normal. As we arrived at our lockers, we saw Chris waiting for us.

"Yo. How'd your little slumber party go?" Chris greeted.

"Ugh for my first time sleeping over at a boy's house, let alone Rick's home, it was a disaster." Penny groaned, "Damien caught on with Rick's plan."

"He was there?" Chris asked shocked.

"Yeah..." Penny sighed deeply as she puts away her textbooks and slammed the locker, "Hayate has the right to know everything about what happened between Rick and his family. Damien forced him to give him a month to break Hayate."

"Wait... a month....?" Chris raised her eyebrow, "Right before Hayate's....?"

"It's ok, Chris." I said, "It's not like I want to do anything on that day. It's better off I continue this plan of Rick's until the end." I tried to hold in my fear and tears in so they wouldn't worry about me. "Besides... this is the best way for me to completely get over him."

"But then you will never feel love anymore. Especially to us." Penny gripped my hands, "Are you sure you want to feel heartless just because you agreed to Rick's plan?"

I nodded slowly and smiled softly. "Yeah. Please don't worry about me, Penny. Thank you both... for being there for me. This whole school year would have never been dull if I never met you two." We gave each other group hug for a long time until the first bell rang for first period. As we said goodbye and went separate ways to our class, I decided to skip first class and hid myself inside the library.

Alright, back to being Detective Hayate and dig in more about Damien's fiance. As I searched throughout the articles of their engagement, not any of them showed any pictures of them together. Is she some ghost or something? How come I can't find what she looks like? Then I remembered Rick and Damien saying I looked like her. I scanned my school ID card and searched for facial recognition. It gave two results which was me and another girl. It was part of an article of the Dawn family. She is the daughter of the jeweler family who mines rarest gems and creates incredible jewelry. 

I skimmed through the article of the name of the girl but it was never mentioned. All it gave were the names of the founders, which were her parents, Roman and Anastasia. I went on a new search about the parents and found a recent article of their fatal accident. However, this article said it was natural disaster and the whole family were killed. That can't be right. Damien just said it was only her parents that were killed. Suddenly my body felt a cold shudder and I looked around. I had a feeling someone was stalking me. I cleared all the searches I did, closed the window, and tried to leave the library. But then I felt something pull me away against the wall and covered my mouth.

"Just stay quiet for a bit, Hayate." a familiar voice calmed me down. It was Chris. As she scanned around the corner of the shelf, she continued covering my mouth. "You were looking in about Juliet's family, huh?" I nodded slowly. "I should've warned you those guys don't like it when you dig into the real story of Juliet Dawn. I sent a message to Rick to meet you behind the school where the neighborhood park is at." She slipped her phone onto my pocket and gripped my shoulder with fear. "Do not let them catch you. Trust Rick to protect you, ok?" I nodded slowly and looked behind recognizing one of those men who followed me back at the cafe.
