Second Kiss

As the last class ends, I met up with Chris and our other friend, Penny. With her wavy chocolate hair covering part of her face, I can tell she didn't have time fixing her hair. But she can fix it right away in a second as long she has her trusty makeup bag. Regardless of how many times I see her apply lipgloss, she does look good in them. She was sobbing showing her ugly crying face. Oh boy... another boy broke her heart. I sighed and greeted them.

"Hayate it's terrible!!" Penny wailed at me using my shirt as a handkerchief, "He used me to get close to papa! I knew it was too soon to be true." She grabbed her cellphone and dialed a number. "Take back everything I gave that lousy boy. He doesn't deserve my love and gifts. And make sure you strip everything off of him!!"

She hangs up and let out a deep relieved sigh. "Well that's enough of me fussing over another boy. So how are you girls doing?" We looked at her in relief. She gets over boys using her easily; but, it's kind of scary how she deals with every boy who breaks her heart.

"Well I'm heading to another rally for the homecoming game. How about you, Hayate?" Chris responded and glanced at me.

"You know me. The usual. I stay away from school stuff." I pouted, "Besides I gotta finish a few more pages before I post my webcomic."

"Ah right. You're aiming to be a um... mango ka right?" Penny asked pulling off a fake Asian accent.

"It's pronounced mangaka and yes." I sighed not giving her a reason to pronounce it right. None of these girls understand why I want to become a mangaka. I shrugged it off and walked with them to the front of school.

"So I know this is random..." Chris broke the silence, "but what are you guys planning to do after this year?"

We looked at her not sure how to answer that question. Penny has hers planned out by her parents. Taking over her dad's corporation. And my parents want me to join in the medical field but I'm rebelling against that.

"Man you guys still have nothing to say." Chris sighed disappointed, "I think I might take up the offer going out of state."

"Wh-what!! How could you leave us, Chris?" Penny shrieked in surprise, "We promised together that we'd go to the same university after graduation."

"I know and I love you guys." Chris smirked and rested her arms over our shoulders, "But come on. It's not like I'd be gone for a year and you'll totally see me as a dude." We were skeptical when she mentioned being a dude. She cackled and pinched our cheeks. "Aw you girls are adorable when you think I'm gonna turn into a guy. And one of you will fall for me." We moved away from her and neglected her while our faces turn bright red.

"You saying something like that and it might happen for real!!" Penny stared at her and avoid eye contact.

"Then again... I've only met you throughout high school." I reminded her, "But whatever suits you best, I'm proud of you."

Chris gave a wide smile and gave me a bear hug. "See? This is a true friend, Penny. She supports me throughout the end."

"Ugh whatever." Penny scoffed as she sees her ride driving up the street. "Well that's my ride. I'll catch you girls later. Love ya." She gave us air kiss and steps in her ride heading home.

Chris sighed in relief and patted my shoulder. "Hey you need a ride again after the rally is over?" I looked at her feeling bad she needs to take me home once again. I shook my head and smiled at her.

"Nah I can walk home on my own. I just need to stop by the library and check out a few references for my comic. You have fun though, ok?"

"Always thinking of others before yourself." she murmurs and heads back inside the school. "Hey don't fret yourself just because that guy is taking over your mind. You have the strongest heart I know." She gives me thumbs up and walks away.
