My blood starts boiling up like a hot pot as we both continue staring at Julia. Just looking at her makes me uncomfortably raged. I snapped out of it and tugged Rick's arm. He continued staring at her, observing her longer. Then the other waitress spoke out.
"Table for two?" she broke the silence. Rick snapped out of it and nodded. The waitress lead us to our table and we seated ourselves. Then the waitress took a glance of me. "Pia? Is that you?"
I look at her and recognized her face. Her jet straight hair pulled back into a ponytail and her petite face with huge round brown eyes mesmerized me. The only girl who I know looks like this was Janette. We were friends back in middle school. But ever since high school, she abandoned me for her group of friends. I didn't get in touch after that, but for her to call me that nickname really ticks me off.
"Oh my gosh. It is you!" she squeals excitedly, "When's the last time we got together? It was sooo long ago...... And who is this cutie boy? Your new boyfriend? At least he's even cuter than that ugly..."
"Jan.... our order...." I cut her off from opening her nasty mouth.
"Oh right." she giggled and opened her notepad, "What will you be drinking?"
"Just give us two glass of water." Rick looked down ignoring our previous conversation.
Janette stares and nods slowly. "Alrighty. I'll get you guys water." She walks away and we both sighed.
"I'm sorry about what she went on about." I rubbed my forehead.
"You meet very.... interesting people." he said as he continues browsing through the menu.
"She's not really my friend, she's just someone I used to trust." I sighed.
"She wanted to be popular?" he asked. I nodded slowly. "Same reason for girls back in my freshman year." We quietly stared at our menus until she brought our water to the table.
"Alright. Here are your water. Now what would you like, sir? Soup, rice, dessert, me?" she flirted with Rick.
"I rather order soup than asking for you." he glared at her. She hid her face and scribbled down his order.
"I'll just have rice and chicken." I gave my order.
"S-sure...." she smiled shyly, "I'll get your orders ready." She dashed away from our table.
"Even girls like her are a pain to get rid of." Rick groaned as he sipped his water. As he analyzed around the cafe, I tried to hide my face from being seen by her. "Everything ok?"
"Oh yeah...." I chuckled slowly, "Just.... praying they don't find us." He can tell I was hiding the truth but didn't pressure me into admitting it.
"I'll be in the bathroom while you continue 'hiding' Sophia." he stood up.
"Oh okay. Take your time." I looked away as he headed to the back of the cafe to the bathroom.
"I thought you didn't want to step in this place if I'm around, Sophia." a voice spoke out behind me. I turned slowly and saw Julia with her hand on her hip and giving me a disgusting look. The last time we met, her wavy brunette hair was longer than me; however, her hair had gotten shorter and it's a complete different hair color. We would be twins by our similar facial feature and our personalities, but she's older than I am.
"I-I....." I stuttered.
"It doesn't matter. You're still a customer to us." she shrugged it off, "Even when you tell me I'm a wench and stole your precious friend, you can't even admit your own feelings about him. You're even more of a coward than I am."
