One week left and everyone is going crazy with the wedding plans. There were venues to check up, foods to prepare, invitations to send. I had no clue what to do so I asked my driver to take me to their bakery to prevent messing anything up but Nathan chose to tag along.
"Why do you have be here?" I frowned distracting myself by baking flan.
"I have nothing else to do." he rolled his eyes, "It was also Damien's order to follow you around since your last escape."
"Technically that's Rick's fault for ordering me to stop seeing him." I pouted, "I'm not some kid that can't protect myself.
"And yet you continue to forget you're pretending to be Juliet who's wanted to be killed for a million dollar gem her parents had found and hid." he counters back, "Stop being selfish for once and try to understand why we had to protect you this way."
I turned away not admitting the truth but I couldn't help it since I was worried about Rick. His phone starts ringing as he checks the message.
"Stay here." he commands.
"Whatever, bossy pants." I looked away. He walked out the kitchen and dials the number. "Stupid Nathan not trusting me. Just because I left the house once, doesn't meant I'd do it again."
"You're about to add a wrong ingredient." a voice interrupts me. I jumped almost dropping one of the bottles and turned. It was Rick that snuck in to surprise me. "You almost added soy sauce instead of vanilla extract." He pointed the bottle I was holding and I noticed I was holding the wrong bottle.
"Sh-shut up." I put down the bottle, "What are you doing here, anyway?"
"Damien asked me to bake the wedding cake." he sighs, "I need to test some flavors for the guests to enjoy." He puts on an apron and takes out the utensils to prepare the procedure. "Would you like to be my taste tester?" I nod quietly anxious to try his dishes once again.
The whole month I stayed with him, we take turns who'll cook and whenever he cooks, they're actually heavenly good. From cooking quiches to making perfect stroganoff, but my all time favorite dish was his hamburg steak with steamed vegetables on the side. They were delicious I can still remember how they tasted inside my mouth with every bite I took. It took me an hour to realize I was daydreaming all the dishes and Rick was standing right next to me. His face was inches close to mine once I opened my eyes. He then placed a scoop of food into my mouth without saying anything.
"The first one is vanilla." he explains. As I chew the cake in slowly, I can feel the moist cake melt down my throat leaving a little sweetness lingering in my tongue.
"It's tasty." was all I could say. He takes another scoop of a different cake and feeds me the next one.
"This one is white chocolate raspberry." he says as he puts it in my mouth. I could taste the chocolate first then taste the raspberry in the end.
"It's not as good as the first one." I debated.
"Yeah... I hate that flavor too." he laughs. I miss his smile and his laugh. He scoops one more cake into my mouth without hesitation and I recognized the taste right away which brought me into tears. "Sorry did I made you choke?" I wiped my tears as I swallowed the remaining cake in my mouth.
"Marble...." I spoke softly. "This one's my favorite." It was the same cake he offered me when I was feeling down back then.
This is the first cake I baked with my brother. I already tried it, but it's better you have some too.
"I want... this cake." I pouted.
"Are you saying this as Juliet or as Sophia?" he raised an eyebrow. I beamed at him and huffed.
