*im soooo sorry. You probably hate me for the long wait :( but I hope this chapter will make up for it! (?)*
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••Incubus' POV
It was warm wherever I was. And soft.
I groaned as I opened my eyes, a splitting pain beginning to throb behind both my eyeballs as I looked around myself.
There were pillows and coverlets, fuzzy blankets and a fake fireplace. Everything was a shade of red, purple, brown or black. It was...
"Comfy?" A voice came from the side of the bed I lay on. I turned my head, ignoring the strain and sharp jolt of pain that stabbed at the back of my neck.
Of course. How did I not guess?
"What the f-" I rasped out.
"Incubus." Starlight said, sounding like a stern mother. "You are in my house. So you will follow the 'no swearing rule'."
"I..." I trailed off, staring at him with one eye slightly twitching. "The hell is up with you? Did the van hit you as well and cause brain damage?"
"No. I've always had a maternal side. I just never really showed it." He replied as if he really was a parent. "Does your head hurt? I didn't know that you could...well -"
"Pass out?" I interrupted. "Get blown ten feet down the road by a simple truck? Yeah. Me either."
"Well...and I know this is a weird question - but I have to ask...how did it feel to...pass out?" Starlight asked, pure curiosity basically dripping from his words. "Did you see dreams? Is it like sleeping? Wait. You probably don't even -"
"No. It's just black." I cut in again.
"Oh." He replied, disappointed. "Well, I guess -"
"I need to get up."
"Can you let me at least finish my sentence?" Starlight suddenly growled. I stared at him, surprised and curious. I guess he had changed...on the inside. He simply wore an outer shell of calm and hugs and kisses. But on the inside...that was a storm. I could see it in the brief flash of anger that cut through his features. I smiled pleasantly.
"I'm terribly sorry, Starlighty." I said. I saw him blink in confusion and then nod solemnly. "Really - I am. It's just...it's so weird seeing you again after long."
"I guess so. I know it is abrupt and awkward, but I just realized that I needed to see your face again. We have been through a lot."
"You're absolutely right." I said, sitting up, and despite the sharp, stinging pain that seared through my abdomen, I smiled widely. It's my trademark, what can I say? "We need to catch up."
"Huh? Oh...yeah, I suppose. I haven't really been through much. It's always the same old, same old in Hell. But I think you have." Starlight said, his voice going quiet and his face being shadowed with shame and something else. I couldn't tell, but I think it was regret or uneasiness. I wonder why.
"Well, I miss the 'same old' stuff in Hell." I replied, trying my best to sound truly curious. "Tell me."
"Oh...well. There was this one time where a soul turned rogue -"
"No, no. Tell me the really screwed up shït." I interrupted, leaning forward because I knew he had some weird experiences up his sleeve.
