Incubus' POV

We walked off in different directions, my annoyance simmering down easily. Starlight on the other hand, was still muttering loud enough for me to hear. I didn't know what had gotten into him, but I could care less. All I knew was that if we ever had to fight it out - physically or even verbally - I would win.

My mind moved away from thoughts of Starlight, and even of Anna. Instead, they moved toward the unknowing human ahead. He walked with his head ducked, his feet shuffling quickly and his bag thumping.

"The careful type..." I remarked underneath my breath. You could just tell from his fast pace that he wanted to get home quickly so that mommy wouldn't be mad at him. My mouth quirked into an automatic grin. I was a demon - a demon prince. I was practically created to cause trouble. And that's what I loved doing the most.

Plus, memories of my previous "nightly endeavours" came to my mind. I hadn't had a victim in a long time. But that was because crawling into people's room and creating nightmares was not my thing anymore. Also because my favourite victim had died and grown to become a bada$s soul-collecting cupcake. Man, she really did rev my engine...

I quickly fell into step behind the unsuspecting human. For a second I thought he was just trying to ignore me, or that he was extremely deaf, but then I saw the white cords of his headphones as he and I urgently shuffled along the darkened sidewalk. Like the good citizen he was, he abruptly stopped at an empty traffic light, making me look foolish for almost bumping into him.

"My apologies..." I smile at him. With a curt nod, he looks the other way, taking out a headphone from on ear. We awkwardly wait at the light, silence almost strangling me. I began to tap my foot in impatience. There were absolutely no cars, so why was this light taking so long to change! And why was this idiot even bothering to wait!

"Well, I guess I'll just walk across." I stated. The boy nodded again, looking down at his feet. Maybe he wasn't dead, but maybe he was mute. I rolled my eyes at him - he hadn't even noticed my crazy red eyes! Without another word, I stepped onto the street and walked across, glancing slyly over my shoulder at the kid. He was probably two or three years older than me, but he acted as if he was a nervous, shy boy who rather hide behind his mothers leg than face the real world. Well, I would show him the real world. And it clearly wasn't as safe as he would like to have think.

I noticed he wasn't looking my way, so I took the quick chance to slip into an alley between two buildings. The light finally changed and he began walking. Coming straight to the area I was walking, he still didn't pay any attention until he was almost right beside me. Then, only when I blew into his face, did he turn his head and looked directly at me.

"Whoa! That was creepy -" He yelled, clearly startled. I smiled widely as I noticed his eyes go round. He had finally seen me. Truly seen me. I blinked my eyes, letting him choke on his breath as he took in their odd colour. Then, his eyes flickered down to my mouth, spotting my obvious pointed teeth.

"That's my job," I said, whispering to him wickedly. He took a step back, his breath still caught in his throat. I stepped forward, into the dim orange light of the streetlamp and blinked at him, a pleasant smile on my face.

"You - you..." He stuttered, stepping back again. I advanced with every step he took backward.

"I'm a monster that lurks in the real world. A world which you clearly don't like to take part in." I said, my head held high and my hands held behind my back. I felt like an overbearing adult scolding a boy. "You should really pay attention to your surroundings. I have been following you for so long - and I even talked to you! Yet, you didn't notice the danger I posed until now. Until the moment where you had no choice but to face me."

"Your eyes are fake..." The boy mumbled, trying to make sense of what he was seeing. I batted my eyelashes at him, grinning wider and wider.

"Oh no, they're very real. Do you like them? They're very pretty aren't they." I replied, stepping in front of him. He nervously swallowed, cowering. "I need to thank you. I haven't had such fun with someone in awhile, and what I'm going to do to you will bring me great sadistic joy."

"I - I..." He continued to ramble. I was getting more pissed off at him. If he didn't shut up or make sense, then I would probably have to ruin my fun and simply slash his throat open just to get him to shut up. I rolled my eyes at his stupidity.

"Congratulations! You're the first victim in a very long time!" I growled viciously at him.

"Pl - please don't!" He begged. I winked at him.

"Oh, you are giving me everything I want in reaction..." I hissed, my voice warping. I didn't know if it would work, but giving nightmares to him while he was awake would be one hell of a show. I had just reached out a clawed hand to grab him, when I blow suddenly sent me flying. I hit the paved road with hard impact. Gritting my teeth - more in annoyance than in pain - I lifted my head and looked at who would dare hit me. They were going to get a fist in their face.

But my instant anger dissolved when I saw Anna's scowling face. My twisted frown immediately turned into a grin as I watched her turn to the frightened kid and tell him something. He ran off but I wasn't mad - I couldn't be mad at my messed up darling.

"Anna! Cupcake!" I said merrily. She told me to shut up.

"I'm not here to talk to you," She said as she walked over to me. I was still laying on the ground, my arms and legs splayed around me in the position I had fallen in. "He is."

I silently looked over Anna's shoulder and spotted Starlight gazing down at me. I dropped my head back onto the pavement, cringing at the pain that shot up my skull.

"Ow." I remarked. "But, wow Starlight. You had to get Anna-Banana to lure me?"

"No." Starlight replied. "I got Anna to hold you down while I beat you into that innocent kid you once were."

I laughed. At the idea, and at the memories of my fickle self. Starlight growled and whispered into my ear.

"I'm here to teach you a lesson."
