...Double Update! 😈
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Unknown POV

I knew I had changed - drastically - but so had he. It had been long since we last saw each other, and to be very honest, I was sort of glad about that. But, when I got summoned to 'pick up' some souls, and I realized who had caused all the death, all I wanted to do was leave. My death had been an accident, and I knew he grieved it. But now that I was here...he only wanted to put me in the ground again. But why? What had I done?

I watched as his haunting eyes closed, slow and lethargic. This told me he didn't sleep...almost at all. He looked liked a pale, fallen angel against the darkness and the black pavement. He was all white, golden and red. His skin was always this pale and his hair had always been that pale golden, but his cheeks had never turned a shade of pink - ever. Even the tip of his nose was a deep red. His lips were the same shade of harsh red, and the cut along his cheekbone was just as stark against the pale canvas of his face.

Sighing, I finally bent down, kissed his cheek almost endearingly, and walked away. I stopped at the body of the dead woman and collected her soul easily. It simply was a chanted prayer, breathing deeply as my eyes began to roll back into my skull, and her soul - a glowing wisp of baby blue smoke - get absorbed into my veins. I would later return to the Underworld where I would drop it off, and let her wait for whatever judgement she awaited. And the she would be damned to Hell, and slowly over the millennia, become a tortured, screwed up demon. Or, she would go to heaven where she would live peacefully for eternity. But she would never become an angel. Apparently, that was only for the elite of souls - the 'chosen ones'. That was pretty unfair if you asked me.

I walked over to the dead man and did the same with his soul. But... I thought in my head as I was readying myself to vanish to the Underworld, there's something else.

And there was. I cold feel it. Like...it was watching me. Quickly, I sharply turned on my heels and stared at where Incubus lay, unconscious. He wasn't the one watching me. He couldn't be. Nevertheless, I strolled over to his limp body and stared down at him. After a few long seconds of staring, I poked him in the side with the toe of my boot. He didn't wake up. But I still felt watched. I hated it.

I turned in a circle, staring deeply into the shadows of the trees, the street, the buildings on the left side of me. Nothing.

"What is going on!?" I yelled, frustrated. It only felt like the person - or thing - staring at me was getting closer. Was it another demon who saw what I did to their 'precious' Prince? Even if it was, wouldn't that demon recognize me?

Closing my eyes tight, I breathed deeply and quickly, trying to calm myself so I could think straight. It didn't work. I felt the heat of someone's else's body against my back. They were so close I could practically feel their body, their life.

I was beginning to breathe in short, shallow gasps, my fear reminding me that I was not free from it. Even after death. Even after I was the one people was scared of now. Death wasn't all that bad, to be honest. There was worse things out there.

Despite my heart hammering, my fear was vicious because it kept me curious. And I did not want to be curious. I did not want to face that thing behind me. But nevertheless, I hesitantly turned my head, looked over my shoulder. My eyes were wide, almost bulging out of my head, my hair was starting to stick to my temples with cold sweat. When I looked over my shoulder, though, there was nothing. Nothing but air.

I was standing frozen even though I had nothing to be scared of anymore. There was nothing...but I still continued to feel like there were eyes on me. Then, the wind began to pick up. This wouldn't be unusual if I wasn't already on edge and if it hadn't been still and silent a second ago. Now it was almost chaos.

My hair flew all around me, whipping my cheeks and inducting my vision. I was physically being pushed around by the gust of wind. Dead leaves whipped against my legs, arms and face. I didn't know what was going on so I did the only thing that made sense to me: I ran into the trees on the side of the road. The ones I had emerged from.

I broke through and noticed it was still reasonably windy here, but it was less...eerie and unnatural. It felt...normal. I turned around and faced the empty street that I had just been on. I could still see orange, brown and yellow leaves being blown by the force of wind. I peered down, onto the pavement, and saw the woman's body was slowly moving, like the wind was tugging it and pulling it to its grave. I shiver ran down my spine at the thought and sight of it.

Turning my gaze away, I looked toward the man who lay so far away, on the sidewalk. He was being pulled and pushed as well, but his body came to a stop as it hit a metal garbage can with a dull thud. Then, I looked for Incubus, that rascal. But...he was nowhere to be found.

"No..." I breathed in disbelief. How had he woken up? The force I hit him with was enough to make a thousand men fall into slumber for months! "No, no, no..."

And like in every horror movie, the sound of a twig snapping, sounded behind me.

"No..." I breathed again. Was it the same thing that had been watching me? Was it causing all the wind? Was it here to get me? I had lived a prime life before, and I lived a worse one now, but that didn't mean I wanted it to end.
The cool breath of it hit my neck and I gasped. I didn't want to turn around. But, my curiosity was always a step ahead, a pedestal higher and and a lot more intense than my fear. They went horribly together, hand in hand. My curiosity would kill me, like it had with the cat. And my fear would always urge it forward to do that.

Looking over my shoulder hesitantly, what I saw wasn't that scary. It was more horrifying because I knew he would get me for revenge. Revenge for throwing him down and making him feel weak. He was a terrible control freak and he hated being dominated.

"Boo." He said, his red eyes glowing in the blackness of the haunting trees.

"Please - Incubus. I was just trying to -" I pleaded. I had just been trying to do my job. I didn't want any trouble. He gave trouble to me, and I had responded.

"Now it's my turn -"

"Incubus. I was trying to do my job. Why are you so butt hurt -"

" - Anna."
