Incubus' POV
"What in the Devil's arse is that supposed to mean?" I asked, very annoyed that he would even dare to speak to me like that.
"Payback." Anna said.
"To teach you some -" They both said at once. Starlight trailed off as he looked pointedly at Anna. She shrugged and walked closer to me.
"Some what?" I snapped. "Some more swear words - because I will get creative on your as$, you -"
"Hold him down please, Anna." Starlight ordered. With an annoyed glance his way, Anna walked over to me, placing her hands on my shoulders.
"That's not going to keep me down, cupcake." I whisper, smiling up her face. She rolls her eyes and peers up at Starlight who didn't look away from me. He wasn't even blinking. I truly do wonder what I had done wrong, or what had happened to make him so...me. I was the messed up, easily angered one - not him!
"He's right." Starlight sighed, his eyes continuing to stare deeply into my own. I was almost unnerved. Almost.
"You should probably get on top of me to hold me down completely." I winked. Anna looked as if she was going to pummel my face in with her fists.
"Just do it." Starlight demanded impatiently. "I need to get this over with."
"And, what would 'this' be?" Anna asked. "Because what you told me was that you were going to speak with Incubus, not make me hold him down while - I'm guessing - you beat his obnoxious face in."
"Plans change." Starlight replied flatly. He was still staring into my black soul. I stared right back into his.
"Anna, lovely," I started, my gaze not wavering from Starlight's. I could feel the tension rising, slow and hot. "I would never say something like this - in such a position - but..."
"But?"
"Can you get off me?" I asked, finally turning my eyes to look at Anna. She seemed relieved and let go of my shoulders. I sat up, smiling brightly at her. "I need to pummel his face in."
"Not if I can help it, you brat." Starlight viciously retorted as he made a move at me. I ducked underneath the crowbar he seemed to pull out of the air. I saw Anna from the corner of my eye, step back.
"Just - tell - me - this," I said as I lunged and ducked and dodged all the blows he suddenly threw at me. "What - happened- that - madeyoulikethis?"
"You - you happened!" Starlight roared as he forced me backward into a wall. My skull ached the second it impacted with the brick. But, gritting my teeth, I stared into Starlight's eyes, seeing rage I had never seen there before.
"What do you mean!" I screamed back. The crowbar he held was pushing against my throat, making it harder and harder to breathe.
"You never noticed anything because -" I cut Starlight off before he could say more. Of course I wanted to hear what had caused this sudden aggression toward me, but I had my chance to attack back. So I did. I felt the moment his grip loosened on the crowbar, lowering the pressure just a tiny bit. But that bit was enough. I pushed him away from me, practically propelling him across the street. With a quick, reflexive action, I grabbed him by the collar of his jacket and yanked him back, throwing him against the wall. Dust fell and bricks shattered. I walked to him and launched the crowbar from his loose grip into oblivion as I breathed hard and stared angrily at him. With his head bowed, and his hands slack, he looked like he had given up. But I knew very well that he wasn't dead or even unconscious.
Gripping his collar in my hands again, I pushed him and spoke lowly into his ear. I don't know where or what happened to Anna, but she seemed to be gone, or not involving herself in this...scuffle.
"Tell me," I demanded in a whispery, raged voice. "Tell me now, Starlight."
I waited for him to finally lift his head and try to attack again...but he didn't. I shook him, slammed him into the wall behind us again, but with no reaction.
"Wake up and tell me!" I shouted into his face. I had never lost my composure, the wicked, witty picture I held up. And Starlight knew that so, after hearing my voice almost break in angry emotion, he finally lifted his dusty head. He looked like a true villain now.
"You had always been the prized one." He said, his voice so rough and quiet I almost couldn't hear. Tomorrow the mortals would wake up and think an earthquake had hit this street.
"Stop stalling and tell me before I crack your head like an egg." I growled. This anger didn't feel like the power I thought about so long ago. This anger felt uncontrollable. Like it was taking ahold of me with its pincer-tight grip and never wanting to let go. I felt like I had been thrown inside a tornado and my whole being had been jumbled up. I was a mess. An angry one.
"It doesn't matter," Starlight smiled which made his split lip bleed blackish blood even more. I could feel my own pooling from tiny cuts. "Because by the end of this, you'll be dead."
"I can't die -"
"Turns out, you can. And I will make sure you don't exist in this world...or the other one."
"Get your head out of your a$s and -"
"That's what happened to Luna." Starlight cut in. My anger sund felt dissolved. "And with your sister."
"What do you mean?" I screamed into his face. "What are you talking about, you mother-"
"I killed Succubus!"
