Naruto spent the rest of the day hanging out with Konohamaru and his friends, with their promise to keep his identity a secret after they parted ways.

It started raining around four in the afternoon, and Moegi said she had to go home to help with dinner. After she left, Konohamaru and Udon sadly apologized to Naruto, saying they had to go, too. Naruto laughed it off and told them it was okay, that he had to get back to training, anyways.

Waving in the direction Konohamaru and Udon went, Naruto's big goofy grin slowly changed into a sad smile, then finally a lonely frown. Without Sasuke around, his only company was Kurama, and his only means to distract himself was intensive training and cooking, which he could only do just so much of thanks to his limited supply of foodstuffs. Naruto sighed.

"Hey, you okay kit? You seem down," asked Kurama as Naruto lay down spread eagle in the slight clearing where the two ANBU had appeared a few days ago.

As the rain came tumbling down and lightly fell on his face, Naruto entered his mindscape so he could talk face to face with the nine tailed fox, still laying spread eagle.

"The only friends I have that actually know what's going on with me are you and Sasuke, and Sasuke doesn't even know about you! The only times I can take the bandages off is when I'm home, alone, or with Sasuke, not to mention I can only see color when I'm here. What did I do to deserve this?"

Kurama gently lay down next to Naruto. "I dunno, kit. Maybe you did something, maybe you did nothing, but one thing's for sure. Good things come to those who are patient and willing to work for them," Kurama said softly.

~two months later with Sasuke and team 7~

Today was the day team 7 arrived back at the village. Sasuke couldn't wait to see Naruto again, but, of course, on the outside he still looked like normal Sasuke.

After they reported back to the Hokage, Kakashi gave them the rest of the day off, much to Sasuke's appreciation. Once he got to his apartment to unpack and grab a few things, Naruto contacted him via their telepathic connection.

"Hey, Sasuke! Ready for our training session?" Naruto's voice said in Sasuke's head, which caused Sasuke to smile.

"Glad to know you care... And yeah, I'm getting ready to come get you. I take it you have something you wanna show me?"

"*giggling* BELIEVE IT!"

Sasuke face palmed. "You did that on purpose, didn't you?"

"*more giggling* maybe..."

"Whatever. I'm coming over. Be ready to go, k?"

"Haha, I was ready last night!"

Again, Sasuke smiled as he shut his door and walked over to Naruto's apartment. He knocked four times, then opened the door. Since Naruto was home, he knew the door would be unlocked.

"Read- what's behind your back?" Sasuke asked Naruto, who was right in front of him, grinning from ear to ear with his hands behind his back and his eyes unbandaged.

"I decided that the bandages were a bit too much (A/N and a bit suspicious...), so..." Naruto paused as he pulled his hands out, revealing a light blue piece of fabric long enough to tie it around his head and wide enough to cover his eyes and eyebrows. "I got this!" Naruto said, triumphantly.

Sasuke looked Naruto in the eyes and did a double take. It was his first time looking at Naruto's eyes in two months, and they'd changed some more. "Naruto, your eyes changed again..."

"What, really? What do they look like now?"

Sasuke looked closer to make sure he wasn't seeing Naruto's eyes wrong. Sure enough, they'd changed. "Well, for one thing, they're even more purple now than blue. Your pupils are more like slits, too," he described for Naruto.

"Really? Cool!" Naruto exclaimed out loud.

Sasuke rolled his eyes. "Come on, idiot. Let's go, we're burning daylight."

Naruto nodded seriously and covered his eyes with the piece of fabric, which now Sasuke knew was a blindfold for sure.

"Ready?"

"Ready. Lets go."

~Slight time skip~

On their way to their training ground, Naruto noticed a pair of footsteps trailing them from a distance. He was going to call them out right then and there, but decided against it since there were other people nearby. Therefore, he decided that he'd expose whoever was following them once they got to the clearing they almost always went to.

Once they got there, Naruto said to Sasuke out loud, "You ready?"

At first Sasuke was slightly confused. When it was just the two of them, they usually just spoke to each other mind to mind. Then he understood. Naruto sensed someone. "Yeah. Show me."

Naruto took a deep breath, held it for a few seconds, then released it, calming himself and broadening his scope of hearing as much as he could, which was quite a bit. Over the past two months, Naruto had been training his ears to work with his brain in a slightly (A/N haha, yeah, just a liiittle *cough cough* it's actually quite a lot *cough cough* bit) different way on command. Basically, he trained himself to be able to echolocate at will. He still had some kinks to work out, but he'd come a long way in those two months. It helps to be friends with the tailed beast sealed inside him.

He "looked" in the direction he'd heard the footsteps stop and found a guy about his age hiding behind a tree a few feet away. Of course, he'd already known where he was, but now he knew the basics of what he looked like, as well as his height.

Pointing, Naruto called out, "You! Yes, you! Come out, I know you're there!" Naruto "watched" in amusement as the guy seemed flustered. "If you don't come out in five seconds, I'm sending my friend after you!" Naruto added. That seemed to do the trick as the guy started fast walking his way towards the clearing.

"Takumi?" Sasuke exclaimed, both confused and surprised but his voice only slightly betraying him.
