Sasuke sighed in defeat. Now they HAD to tell everyone about their telepathy. "W-we... We can talk telepathically to each other."

More silence that was broken by Takumi.

"You have... Telepathy?" Takumi asked. "Both ways?"

"That's what "to each other" means, idiot," Sasuke said drily.

"Could you explain how it works?" asked the Hokage, curiously.

"It's kinda similar to one of Ino's family jutsus, but it doesn't use any chakra or hand seals or anything else of the sort. All we need is be within a certain distance and think to each other," Naruto replied.

"Yeah, that's about how it works, except I'm not sure if it truly doesn't use chakra. It might just use a tiny amount that's pretty much undetectable to us as chakra," Sasuke said.

"Do you know how this mental link between the two of you formed or why?" Hiruzen asked.

Naruto and Sasuke just looked at each other, exchanging silent remarks, before hanging their heads slightly. "No... We haven't given it much thought," they replied in unison.

"Although maybe Kurama knows something about it. I never asked him so it's possible," Naruto added with a thoughtful look on his face.

"By all means. Go right ahead, Naruto."

Naruto nodded and suddenly his eyes seemed unfocused. Naruto stood stick still, not swaying even slightly, as the others looked on.

~Naruto's mindscape~

"Hey, Kurama? Do you know why Sasuke and I can freely speak telepathically while others have to rely on jutsu to do something even remotely close to the same thing?"

"I've actually been looking into it ever since you two first started doing it. Every time you speak mentally to Sasuke, I feel a slight disturbance in both my chakra and yours, which peaked my curiosity. I started observing Sasuke's chakra network more closely and I was surprised at what I found. A small amount of my chakra was circulating in his chakra network the same as his own, although most of it mainly stayed in his head around his brain, and whenever he spoke to you mentally, or vice versa, there was a slight disturbance in that chakra. The reason no one's noticed that a small amount of my chakra in his system is because his body fully accepts it and actually uses a small amount of it whenever he performs a jutsu.

"The amount that's in him doesn't replenish like normal chakra. It replenishes whenever the two of you start mentally talking to each other. It might even start replenishing as soon as he's in your presence, although I'm not too sure about that. He's basically unconsciously syphoning miniscule amounts of my chakra every time he speaks telepathically to you so he can replenish whatever mixes in with his own chakra which he uses in his jutsus. So far, I don't think it's harmed him in any way, but just to make sure, I keep a constant eye on him wherever I can." Kurama explained to Naruto as best he could, shocking the poor blond.

"He... Sasuke has some of your chakra in him? Since when? And how did it get in him?"

"Kit, again with the questions... My best guess is when we formed the contract and you unsealed me. Remember that shockwave of my chakra that was released when you ripped off the seal? Perhaps some of my chakra escaped into Sasuke while his head was rested on your chest as he slept. It would certainly explain why my chakra stays mostly in his head, anyways."

Naruto nodded. It actually kinda made sense. It wasn't long after he got out of the hospital that they found out they could speak mentally to each other, and they knew they hadn't been able to do it before Naruto's accident, so it did make some sense. But Naruto's hyperactive mind quickly found another question that needed asking.
