"TAKUMI, LOOK OUT!"
But Takumi was already looking. And moving. A little known fact about Takumi. He may seem like a total klutz, maybe sometimes even clueless, but it's really all just a disguise. A mask. Really, he's just as smart as his two older brothers, who may or may not rival the Nara clan. He just isn't... Book smart...
Knowing that if he ducked, Tazuna, the bridge builder, would get hit, Takumi did the only thing he COULD do: he let his mask slip.
Ducking just slightly, he reached up and snatched a kunai right out of the air and used it to deflect the rest of them. Something which took a great deal of skill. And speed.
When he successfully deflected all the kunai, he took the one he had taken from the air and threw it back in the direction it came from, although just slightly to the right, hitting his mark and earning a cry of pain from the enemy.
Over all, the whole situation was resolved in less than a minute as Kakashi walked out of the woods, dragging a second assailant behind him. He'd already known about Takumi's mask so he didn't question him. Instead, he went straight to Sasuke.
"How did you know where that last attack was coming from?" Kakashi asked, skipping straight to the point. Forgetting he was dealing with Sasuke, he expected some sort of reaction.
Sasuke, however, kept a straight face and said, "Training," before picking up one of the enemy's kunai to examine while Takumi went to go get the enemy he'd taken down earlier.
Sakura WOULD have been spouting off question after question, like how the HECK did her two crushes suddenly get so GOOD, ignoring the fact that she liked them partly because of how cool and strong they'd been back at the academy, and how on EARTH is Kakashi-sensei still alive, if not for the fact that she fainted right after she heard Sasuke yell "TAKUMI, LOOK OUT". She couldn't BARE the thought of one of her beloved crushes getting hurt, completely oblivious as to how strong and capable they both actually were.
Sasuke and Takumi, however, were actually kinda glad that they were being spared from her obnoxious fangirling and relentless questions. At least for the time being. Team 7 wouldn't be team 7 without her, annoying quirks and all.
Once everyone was back on the path, with the addition of the two enemy ninja who were currently out of commission, the questions started coming.
"Who ARE you guys?! I thought you were a team of three genin and a jonin sensei! This... This isn't what I paid for!"
"Are you complaining?" asked one Takumi Takahashi with a cocked eyebrow and crossed arms.
"Not at all! But seriously, who are you guys?"
"I'm Kakashi Hatake, and these two are Takumi Takahashi and Sasuke Uchiha, two of my students and part of team 7, the team currently in charge of escorting you to the Land of Waves. Now may I ask why two rogue ninja were after your head? And might I remind you that this mission has just now crossed the defining line between C rank and B rank, possibly even A rank, and as the leader of this team, I have the right to deem this mission too dangerous for my team to complete."
Tazuna sighed. "Oh, alright. As you know, the Land of Waves is an island with the only connection to the mainland being water transportation, making us a farely well off town when it comes to natural protection. But our seclusion, while our main defense, is also our downfall. Since we don't have the protection of being a hidden village, we have fallen pray to a corrupt businessman named Gato," Tazuna explained. He went on to explain the financial state the Land of Waves was in and why the bridge was needed so badly, as well as why he'd requested C rank protection and not higher.
