Alex let out the breath he was holding and looked around his surroundings. Everybody was shocked, confused. Scott then grabbed his hand gently, scared.

"Did...did he hurt you?" Scott asked, his blue eyes full of emotion. Alex hesitated then finally nodded. "Oh my gosh, Alex. Babe, I'm sorry."

"It's fine," Alex admitted even though nothing was really okay. "It's just...weird, you know? I didn't even know that you guys knew him. He left my mom and I with my older sister, Vic."

"Oh," Kirstin whispered, looking at Scott's boyfriend. She then brushed back her dark hair. "Um, your aunt dated him. What happened to Vic?"

"He killed her," Alex answered darkly, his eyes turning a dark color. He shook his head. "Nobody believed that we were siblings though. She had red hair and grey eyes while I have dirty blond hair and brown eyes. She was so shy and I was outgoing. We were so close. I was a bit younger than her, about a year or so.

"Mom was so sweet to her, but our dad was the opposite. He hurt her with every chance he had. If she didn't get hit, then I did. When she fought back so he won't hurt me, he hit her and still hit me. One day, they disappeared. It was only me and my mom. My mom then filed a missing persons report for my sister.

"About a month later, the police came to our house. They told they found a deceased girl that near the place Carson went to. We found out that it was Vic. She had burn marks, cuts, and bruises all over her body. She didn't even look the same. My mom was so depressed. She was met the same, not was I.

"My older sister was gone and I had no way to get her back. My dad commanded for me to live with him when I was eleven, the summer you went to see him, but I refused. Luckily, my mom gained full custody. He then told me that because I didn't move in with him, he was going to hurt someone else. I didn't believe him until my mom said he it sent to jail for good.

"Now that I know the truth, I can't help but blame myself for Mitch's stutter and everything else. I'm so sorry."

Alex then looked down at his plate, salty tears running down his face. He then felt Scott's warm hand pick up his chin, looking into the somber blue eyes. Scott smiled sadly and wiped away the tears.

"It's not your fault," Scott reassured softly, wiping away more of the tears off of Alex's face. "The only person who is to blame is Carson himself. You have nothing to do with it."

Alex nodded as he kissed Scott's cheek softly. The couple continued to hold hands through dinner, happy to be together.

A week passed and Kevin was done packing up for Fresno. Charlotte's car was there in front of the house, ready to pick up her boyfriend. Kevin was putting his stuff in the car when he noticed his children standing there, all three of them crossing their arms.

"I'm sorry, kids," Kevin began, but Scott shook his head, refusing to hear him out.

"You're our dad," Scott brought up angrily, his arms going to his sides. He shook his head once more. "If you didn't love us anymore, then why didn't you just leave?"

Kevin was about to answer when Kirstin brought up her hand. He sighed as she began to speak.

"Why?" Kirstin asked, shaking her head. Kevin couldn't answer. "I hope you enjoy living with Charlotte. Just know that that kid growing in her stomach will never be considered my sibling."

Kirstin and Scott walked inside, slamming the door behind them. It was only Mitch and Kevin now. Mitch sighed as he looked up at his father, frowning softly.
