What Happened in Between

Alex and Divorces

Scott cleared his throat nervously as Alex followed him to the door. He looked at his boyfriend and smiled happily although his nerves were worrying him.

"What's wrong?" Alex asked sweetly, brushing back the blond hair. Scott shrugged his shoulders. "Is it your parents?"

"Yeah," Scott answered honestly. He looked at the door once more, getting ready to open it. "Promise me you'll never leave me."

"I'll never dream of it," Alex answered back, running his back down the younger's back. He whispered lovingly in his ear. "For you?"

Scott smiled as he said back:

"For you."

Kevin drove back from Charlotte's house, feeling weird. Charlotte was acting...strange. She was very secretive for the last couple of days. She was on the phone yesterday, but she didn't say why. All he knew was that he knew the person too. He stopped the car when he arrived home, smiling when he saw that the house lights on.

I'm back home.

He walked up to door and opened it, stopping when Avi stood in front of it, crossing his arms. Avi looked sad, his green eyes a depressed blue. He looked angry too, which is a weird combination for the shorter male. Avi sighed as he closed the door behind and stared up at his husband.

"I know about Charlotte."

Dang it.

"Did..did you not want me anymore?" Avi asked sadly, his eyes finally releasing the depressed moisture. Kevin looked down at the ground, ashamed. "Did those years of marriage not matter? Maybe we should get a divorce. I already called my lawyer. She's going to send me some papers to finalize it. You're going to sign them too."

"Avi, please don't do this," Kevin begged, but Avi stayed put. The other man shook his head, not believing a word he is saying. "I love you."

"If you loved me, then you wouldn't be expecting a kid with your girlfriend," Avi fought back, going back inside. Kevin felt his heart break into two. "Come inside. Scott has someone with him. Hopefully he won't cheat on him."

Kevin nodded as he walked inside, his heart cracked( by Pentatonix). His love wants to leave him, forever. He sighed to himself, shaking his head.

Why did I ever do that?

"What kind of stuff do you like, Alex?" Kirstin asked, her feet kicking back and forth softly. She smiled up at the handsome dirty blond. "So you like music?"

"Taylor Swift and yes," Alex answered, holding Scott's hand gently. He smiled sweetly at the younger male. "I...I have a confession."

"Yes?" Kevin asked, not looking at his husband. The couple was separated, not even acknowledging each other. "Is everything okay?"

"Of course," Alex answered right away, clearing his throat. He squeezed Scott's hand, praying to get a positive reaction. "I'm a couple years older than Scott."

"H-ho-ow-w m-mu-uc-ch-h o-ol-ld-er-r?" Mitch questioned, looking up the couple. He prayed mentally to himself that he can have that someday.

"I'm attending college," Alex answered, afraid of the reactions. The family looked at him, simply nodding. "You're not mad?"

"No," Avi commented, looking at the couple. Scott looks very happy with him. "I mean, if you hurt my son, then yeah I'll be mad, but I give permission for this relationship. Just know that it's going to be hard considering that you are an adult and Scott's still considered a child."

Alex nodded as he kissed Scott's forehead. Scott blushed as his younger siblings squealed happily. Their brother looks so happy with Alex! They hoped it will stay that way for a while!

Dinner was then served and the family sat around, eating while having friendly conversations. Mitch stayed quiet throughout dinner, hoping no one will notice. Avi cleared his throat, catching everyone's attention.

"This is hard for me to confess," Avi began, looking at Kevin. Kevin looked down, ashamed. He knows what's happening. "Your father and I are getting a divorce."

"What?!" Scott, Kirstin, and Mitch all yelled/stuttered. They all shared a look of surprise.

"Is it b-be-ec-ca-au-us-se-e of me?" Mitch spoke up, feeling tears come down his cheeks. Avi shook his head but flinched when Mitch stood up abruptly. "Y-ye-es it is! It's b-be-ec-ca-au-us-se-e of my st-ut-te-er a-an-nd-d my u-un-he-ea-at-th-hly mind!"

Mitch then left the dining room, bis cheeks wet with tears. Scott when to stand up, but Alex stopped him, shaking his head. Scott sighed as he sat down, obviously upset by his little brother's behavior.

"Why?" Kirstin asked, her heart breaking. "Is everything okay?"

"I'll explain when the divorce is finalized," Avi answered, looking at Kevin once more. "I'll tell you that your father is moving to Fresno first thing next week."

"Oh," Alex murmured, looking down at his food. His appetite seemed to disappear after the scene that occurred. "So, I understand that Mitch has stutter and that he got it because of some jerk, but does it affect you guys a lot?"

"Yeah," Kirstin answered, looking down her own plate. She pushed it back, not feeling hungry anymore. The freshman sighed sadly. "He says that his anxiety, PTSD, and stutter doesn't affect him and that we shouldn't worry about it. It's obvious that we need to, though."

Alex nodded as he intertwined his fingers through Scott's. Scott smiled when he felt the hand warm up his entire body, making him happier.

"Also, what is the name of the abuser?" Alex asked, interested. Kevin looked up, locking his eyes with Alex's. "I never got to learn what their name is."

"Oh," Kevin whispered to himself, nodding. He cleared his throat. "Carson. That's all we know."

Alex then froze, his hand gripping tightly on Scott's. Scott then let go, hissing in pain.

"Ow. Alex, what was that for?"

"Is his last name Kirk?" Alex asked frighteningly, his hazel eyes full of fear. He looked like someone just played a terrifying trick on him.

"Yeah," Avi answered nervously, catching Scott's glance. His son held a bit of a nervous glint in his eyes. "Why?"

"I can't believe this," Alex commented quietly, pulling at his hair. He then looked at the family nervously, afraid of his next words:

"Carson is my father."

A/N: PLOT TWIST! Did you guys expect that, did you?! Also, Avi and Kevin are divorcing by the next chapter and something will happen. It might be bad or good.
