Just gonna jump into this one

Alec walked into the library expecting it to be empty, when he saw Clary sitting on the windowsill looking out into the city. He came over to her quietly.

"Clary?" He asked. She jumped a little as she looked at him. Her eyes were red and she looked broken. "Is everything ok?"

She shrugged. "Got into another fight with my mom about the whole hiding the shadow world from me. I'll be fine."

Alec sat down in the space next to her. They both sat silently until Alec thought of something. "You know, even though the whole situation sucks for you, I'm grateful for it." She shot him a glare and he put his hands up defensively, "before you freak out, give me a second. If your mom hadn't hid you from the shadow world, she wouldn't have had to go to Magnus, and you'd never have to go to him for answers. If she hadn't hid you from the shadow world, i wouldn't have Magnus. And Izzy wouldn't have Simon," he said the last sentence with a little resentment in his voice that made Clary chuckle.

"So, i guess what you're saying is, sometimes our pain works out more for other people than it does for us." She summarized. Alec was always bad with words but that was exactly what he'd meant.

Alec just shrugged. "I'm bias." She chuckled again.

Later that night, Alec was curled up on the couch next to Magnus. Alec had told Magnus about that afternoon with Clary.

"So, i guess I have Jocelyn to thank for bringing me to you." Said Alec. Magnus pondered that for a second.

"Technically, you have Valentine to thank." Magnus replied. Alec laughed.

"He did always say we'd be thanking him one day. I almost hate to prove him right."

It was Magnus's turn to laugh. "Almost. But I wouldn't give it up for the world Alexander."

I know it's short but I wanted to get a point across. Sure Jocelyn and Valentine did some shitty things (Valentine more so) but look at what came out of it (Besides Sebastian). It makes me hate Jocelyn a little less. Plus, we never see any Clary/Alec bonding moments so I created one.

Like I said before, these are my first fanfics so I'm sorry if their bad. Constructive criticism is welcome.
