Chapter 6 : : Feelings Arise...ugh...

"Hey guys did you forget you had a dog to take care of?" Said Rufus sassily.
I actually did forget for awhile..whoops.

"Um no why would you think that?" I said trying to seem like I never forgot we had a dog.

"Oh I don't know. Maybe because you forgot me back at that Chinese food restaurant. CHAINED UP TO A TREE!" He yelled at me. Yea, no dodging that one...

"Oh..well in my defense we were fighting mutants and eating so... Besides you're not allowed in a restaurant so what's the big whoop?" I said kinda feeling bad about leaving Rufus there. He got back to us by taking the tree with him. I had to unchain him from the tree that he was so effortlessly dragging around.

"Yea whatever just try not to let it happen again? I could've helped you win the fight against the mutants." He said.

"True. Okay I promise next time we beat the living crap out of a mutant you can help. And we did win the fight by the way."

"Barely. And finally, I've been wanting to bite someone's nose off for awhile now!" He said jumping up and down.

"Yea yea lets just hope we don't have to beat the living crap out of anyone anytime soon." Said Colt sounding a little annoyed due to the fact that me and Rufus are wanting to meet another set of Mutants.

"Sorry but it's exciting!" Yelled Rufus.

"How is it exciting putting your life on the line? They could easily knock us out and who knows what they'll do to us?" Said Kylie. Also sounding annoyed.

"Alright alright, I'll keep my snout shut." Rufus said sounding disappointed.

~Sun Set~

It's starting to get dark now and we're only on the Louisiana border. This is gonna take longer then I thought. But anything is worth getting family back.

"Guys I think we should look for a place to stay and start a campfire for warmth." Said Kylie yawning and transforming out of wolf form.

"Yea you have a point. Do you think we should stay on the ground or up in the trees Colt?" I asked him also transforming back to human.

"Trees. The only threat we have up there is birds and other things that can climb, and since the mutants have hooves for feet, they won't be  getting up here anytime soon." He replied. The final one to transform back. I have to admit he had a point. As we were all climbing up the tree, I slipped on a branch that broke. I started to fall and scream when I felt a warm hand grab mine.

"Aaaahhhh!" I screamed.

"I got you!" Yelled Colt. He grabbed my hand and pulled into his arms. He was holding me by one hand while the other is gripping onto a strong branch.

"Oh my god Colt you saved my life! Thank you so much! Help me get to the branch up there and I'll pull you up." I said. I shed a tear out of the fear I had of falling to my death.

He pushed me up to the strong branch where Kylie was staring at us. She climbed to different one and pulled up Rufus. She was on the branch above us. She slid down into a comfortable position and fell asleep with Rufus on her lap. They looked cute.
As for Colt and I, I was pulling him up with all my strength.
Then when he was pulled up I started to speak.

"Hey thanks for saving me. I really appreciate it." I said slipping a hair behind my ear and blushing. I don't think I've ever felt this way about anyone in my whole life. I feel like he holds the key to my rusted heart. Yes rusted. I've only had one relationship in my whole life. And I promised myself that I would never be in another one. He hurt me badly. Had me in depression. That's why I didn't want to have feelings for another guy(Colt). But maybe he's different.... I hope.

"Yea no problem. I gotta save you every once in awhile or life wouldn't be interesting." He replied smirking.

"Ha ha very funny." I said punching him on his shoulder.

~Colts POV~ (yea I know this is the first time I switched the POV😱)

When she slipped I instantly grabbed for her hand. It might be the only way I'll be able to hold her without her knowing I like her.

I pulled her into my arms and held her there. I felt her shed a tear. But I didn't care as long as she was safe, my life is perfect. She told me to push her up to the branch so she could pull me up. I knew I could trust her. She's one of the strongest people I know. So I pushed her up and she grabbed my hand and pulled me with both her hands. Then we sat on the branch with relief.

Then she thanked me for saving her. She blushed and moved her hair behind her ear. She looks beautiful. How do I tell her without distracting us from our mission? Ugh..I hate my heart sometimes. It picks the "perfect" time to fall in love with someone.

I told Alex a comeback. I thought it was a clever way of telling her I like saving her. But hey, whatever. Then Kylie moved to the branch above us and fell asleep with Rufus.

"Hey Alex you feeling tired?" I asked after she yawned.

"Yes Captain Obvious I am very tired." She said. We both laughed.Then I pulled her over to me and layed her head on my chest. She was laying on my lap.

"Hey w-what are y-you doi-*yawn*-ng?" She asked. I can tell she was tired.

"Just close those pearls of yours and fall asleep." I said so quietly it was almost quieter than a whisper.

"O-okay...." Then she drifted off into a sleep. She looked so beautiful. I can't contain these feelings I have. But I'm gonna have to. I'll tell her later but now is not the time or place. So instead I intertwined my fingers with hers and lay my head on top of hers(since she was laying on my chest, I can lay my head on hers). I looked around and made sure nothing hostile was around. The only thing I heard was the cute little snores from Alex. And the snores from Rufus and Kylie. So I knew everyone was asleep. Then I felt my eyes drop and everything went dark.
