I was on a date with Nathan.
It was safe to say that we needed this date. After all, these past few days has been difficult. I have avoided talking to him about my past which was good. All we did was talk about him. Like where he went to school. Or schools he went to. Why he keeps moving so much. You know just a basic conversation about his life.
Of course I avoided speaking about my past but I did tell him I lived here my whole life at least... That should count for something. Right?
We were in his room, we had the backdoor open to let in a breeze also because his mom was out in the yard reading a book and we didn't want her to think anything was going on.
Rebecca was shopping at the mall with Lily. Christian was with Alexander going over some business plans in the study so we pretty much had our alone time together.
Julie was a bit far off from us so she couldn't hear what we were talking about but she could still see us clear as day. Especially since Nathan had clear doors so you can see inside if the curtains he had were pulled back.
I was laying down on his bed with my shoes kicked off while he was turning on the tv and flipping through the movie channels. He picked some Zombie movie before flopping onto his bed right beside me.
It was an okay movie. Some parts were just too stupid and cliche that I was nudged to be quiet because I was laughing way too much.
Nathan was full on enjoying the movie I thought it was just too strange. I got up and went to the kitchen and made us popcorn. I put on some hot sauce on it before returning back to the room and sat back down on the bed.
I hold out the popcorn, his hand reaches out for a handful while he continues staring at the screen. Once he eats it, he furrows his brows and looks down at the popcorn.
"What the hell is this?" He eats one and chews on it with caution. "Is this hot sauce?"
I nod my head. "Yeah... Haven't you tried this before?" He shakes his head.
"Why would I?" He rolls his eyes. "Well stop looking at me all wide eyed like if I had just grown a third head."
"Because that's just weird!" I shake my head. "We would always eat this if we were watching a movie at one of our places or if we were out at the movies we would order-"
"What?" I clear my throat. "Um it's nothing."
"Don't do that."
"Do what?"
"Say it's nothing when it's something. Tell me something. Whose we?" I stay quiet for a minute. Me and my big mouth. "An old friend."
He nods. "I'll take that." He stares at the tv for a minute longer before turning his gaze back at me. "What would you order? At the movies?"
"We would get nachos and popcorn." My voice was too soft and dream like that I had to clear my throat before continuing. "We would dip the popcorn with nacho cheese."
He scrunches his nose. "Ew."
"Hey! Don't knock it until you try it kid!" He laughs as he takes another handful of popcorn and stuffs it into his mouth.
He smiles toothlessly with his cheeks stuffed with popcorn and give me a thumbs up. I roll my eyes and grab the remote control and begin flipping through channels.
"What are you doing!? He was gonna save her from that group of zombies!" I stare at him with disbelief.
"You are way too into romantic movies." I flip the channel back to where it was.
