He's here. Shit. He heard that didn't he? Slowly I turn around. Yup he's here alright. Specifically in the corner of the garage leaning against the wall. He looked nice... he was wearing some dark washed jeans with some black converse, and a blue cotton shirt.
A quick glance of his face tells me that he indeed heard our little conversation. Ugh why did he have to choose this moment to suddenly pop up? Which reminds me, what was he doing here? "I will neither confirm or deny that. What are you doing here?"
"Well that's not a no so I'll take what I can get. Oh and I'm here to pick up this very beautiful girl, whom I like very much by the way, to go out on a movie date which will hopefully end up leading to more dates after that." And there it is ladies and gentleman that smile. Yup here I am melting at the scene. Might as well carry me off in a gurney.
Do you seriously think I'm serious? No I'm not melting. No I don't need to be carried away in a gurney. I am not easily won over! I do not swoon! I cross my arms over my chest and stare at him blandly. Very aware of Lily smiling like the joker in the corner of the room.
"Well you better go pick her up." I mutter before turning my back at him.
"Yeah that's actually in progress right now. I know it's a bit early and I said I would pick you up at three but I thought maybe you wanted to grab some lunch." He sounds like he's getting closer to me now.
"Would you like to come with us? Well if you want to that is." I know he's directing that to Lily and I can already guess what she's thinking, 'hell no I'm not third wheeling.'
"How about you come back at three. You know the time your supposed to pick me up." I kick the punching back again. I really don't want to see him right now I'm pretty sure I look all sweaty and disgusting. But then why do I care how I look around guys all of a sudden?
"Well I was but then I thought why not get some lunch? So maybe you could tell me about what happened with you and Maddie?"
"Oh hag from hell? Yeah we had a bit of an encounter today. What about it?" Yeah Annabeth, play the dumb card. I roll my eyes before switching legs.
"Oh I think you know. Apparently it was known that Maddie went up to you in the mall today and you two started talking. Then Maddie somehow ended up leaving with the security. What happened?" I felt him standing behind me before he even touched me.
His breath was on my neck, his hand resting on my arm. Stopping me from continuing my workout. "What did she do?" What does he mean what did she do? Doesn't he mean what did I do?
"We talked..." I say cautiously, not really knowing where the conversation was going.
"If she said something bad I'm sorry. I'll talk to her." With that I turn to face him. I probably shouldn't since we were now standing face to face with each other. I mean he was so close to me now that all he had to do was stretch down his neck and slouch down a bit but still. We were close enough to kiss. Ew.
"Like I told you. I can take care of myself." I say. A tad breathless. I blame my workout. Not because we're this close together! God, keep you're shit together Annabeth he's just a boy you met three days ago. Don't forget he spilled hot tea all over you and dropped your cookie for goodness sakes! Like I said. I wasn't going to let that go.
"Yeah I think I can see that by now." He smiles. Then hesitates, opening and closing his mouth as if he wasn't sure what to say. Or at least how to say it. "But I also see in just these past few days that you would rather take care of the people who you love the most rather than take care of yourself. So tell me-" lifting up his hand he pulls a stray hair that escaped from my ponytail back behind my ear. "Who's going to take care of you? No, actually. When will you let someone take care of you?"
