The spider sunk its fangs into Link's shield. Leaping in the air, Zelda spun around and landed solidly on its back. Holding her sword at the ready, she sank it into its back. Screaming, the spider reared up and twisted one of its legs and smacked Zelda off of its back. Gritting her teeth in pain, Zelda dashed forward and sank her sword into its jaw. Link rushed forward and shoved Zelda out of the way as it brought its head down, trying to crush her.
"Thanks," Zelda said breathlessly. Rushing to her feet, she saw Link leap up onto its head and performed the ending blow, flipping off of the spider before it exploded. Flourishing her sword, Zelda sheathed it. Walking forward she saw three doors on each side of the room. Looking to her left and her right, she saw that each door had a lock on it. Looking forward, the door ahead of her had no lock, but no way to get to it. Looking at her surroundings, she noticed four unlit torches. Walking up to each torch, she lit it up with her lantern. When all four were lit, a staircase rose up from the floor and lead up to the next door. Walking up the stairs, she noticed a chest. Just as she was going to open it, Link dashed by her and landed in front of the chest and opened it.
"It's a map," Link said. When Link held it out to her, Zelda noticed that it looked like an ancient book. Opening it, she saw that there were lots of details of the rooms that they had been to, but all of the other rooms were just black, with the outline of the room.
"Huh. Weird." Zelda said. Tucking it into her pouch she walked through the door, making sure to avoid all eye contact with Link. Striding through, she saw a skinny bridge leading across a chasm. Gulping, the monkey sprinted in front of her and across the bridge. When she got to the other side, she hopped up and down gesturing for Link and Zelda to cross over. Taking a deep breath, Zelda took three steps back and prepared to face her biggest fear.
Don't worry. The bridge won't break. You have nothing to worry about. Just cross over. Nothing to worry about... Just as she took a step forward, Link put his hand on her shoulder. Looking at him, he nodded.
"Together."
Nodding, Zelda said, "One... two... three!"
Dashing forward, they crossed the bridge. Just as they stepped onto the solid ground, a monkey screeched from the other side. It was a big baboon, with gray fur. He raised a boomerang that was glowing with black energy, and sliced the ropes to the bridge. To Link and Zelda's horror, the monkey who helped them dashed across to stop him. Just as the other monkey reached the halfway point, the bridge's ropes were cut. Screaming, the monkey fell into the chasm.
"No!" Zelda screamed running up to the edge of the platform. Much to their relief, the monkey climbed up the bridge like a ladder. Looking over to the other baboon, the baboon screeched turned around and started slapping his butt. Confused and slightly disturbed, Zelda turned away and walked into the room ahead of them. In the center there was a pillar with a monkey in a cage on top.
Huh. Weird.
Walking down the pathway, she saw a mini bridge.
Ugh! Again with the bridges!
Dashing across, she made it over. Link followed, and just as he and the monkey made it across, the bridge collapsed.
"Great." Zelda said sarcastically. Continuing down, the monkey all of a sudden screeched and rolled into the pillar.
Narrowing her eyes, Zelda said, "I think she wants us to roll into the pillar."
"I suppose so.." Link said trailing off. Suddenly, he rolled into the pillar three times, and the cage fell off, breaking as soon as it hit the ground. Screeching in joy, the two monkeys hugged, then ran up the slope to where the bridge collapsed. Jumping up and down, the monkeys gestured for them to hurry up and join them. Sighing and rolling her eyes, Zelda began to run up the slope.
"Hey wait." Link said stepping in front of her. "If you need a break, just say so."
Sighing again, Zelda said, "I guess I do need a break... Midna can you please come out?"
Zipping up out of her shadow, Midna grunted and said grumpily, "What?" Gently bringing Ooccoo out, Zelda asked her, "Can you please take me out of the temple but still stay with Link?"
"Of course! Ooccoo Jr. please escort Zelda out of the temple."
Popping up from behind her, Ooccoo Jr. replied, "Of course Mother!" and flew all around her, teleporting her out of the temple before Midna could recede back in her shadow.
"Bye!" Zelda said waving to Link.
"See ya later, and don't be too long!" Link said.
"W-wh-what!?!? No! Argh!" Midna pulled at her hair frustratedly.
Ignoring her, Link said, "Come on, we have to hurry up with this temple."
Angrily subsiding into Link's shadow, they continued up the slope to meet with the monkeys.
